Told you Canada should've had Vennables as Manager

Recommended Posts

El Tel is definitely the best English coach around. He's been there and done it, and not just in England either. I for one was disappointed when he was replaced as England manager. It's good to see him back and he would definitely have had a lot of input with Steve McLaren for the game on Wednesday night.

Having said all that, I'm not sure Canada would ever have been able to tempt him as manager simply because he has said he will never work in a full-time role again. He turned down Middlesbrough during the summer and is only part-time with England. He also doesn't come cheap. Would the CSA ever really have considered paying a lot of money for a part-time manager who wouldn't be based in Canada anyway (a la Tel's time with Australia)? It would've been interesting to see anyway.
