matthew
Okay tickets go on sale tomorrow. Edmonton is less of a worry than Toronto as far as availability because of capacity, but I think we should get organized anyway. Canada plays in Edmonton Thursday July 5 and Sunday July 8 as the second game of a double-header. So long as we are first or second in Pool A we will also play a round of 16 game in Edmonton. If we're first we play July 11, second July 12. If we're third we're either in Burnaby or Montreal or out of the tournament. If we finish first in our group and keep winning the path to glory goes Montreal-Toronto-Toronto. If we're second the path to glory goes: Toronto-Edmonton-Toronto. The U Sector are getting organized for the July 1 date and are trying to gather in 115 and have spill over into 114 and 116 correct? Where do we want to stand in Commonwealth? Normally we're opposite the cameras towards the bottom of the lower bowl — R, S, T, U, V. We were in U for the Honduras game as I recall. These are probably the pricier tickets, but at Commonwealth I think it's worth it to be on one of the sides and we might as well get some face time to boot. The advantage being that the view is pretty good no matter how close to the front you are. Or we could start at the back of one of those sections and work our way forward so standing won't be an issue. But standing hasn't been an issue before really, so I'm not too worried. I am hoping that come tomorrow we can start to pick specific sections and seats. Is anyone else planning on traveling. I figure with two weeks off I can hit Toronto, catch three matches and then hit Edmonton for two more double-headers, both round of 16 games and then head home. That's nine games in 12 days. Now I just need to figure out how to get tickets. Does anyone want to make a decision on sections. Is there any chance of this being GA? (Weren't the U19 women's GA?). We have time to move on this, but I want to get tickets ASAP and I figure we might as well start getting organized now. This is going out to the whole world and we're playing at home, there's no reason we shouldn't do our best to make a good impression and back this team to the max. cheers, matthew
Cheeta
Got a scheme going were by I can fly out for Canada's home opener in Toronto and then road it out to Edmonton for a nice, long, lazy couple of weeks holiday. NewEx is up in the air right now, but Commonwealth is a 99.9% go. Some here don't much care for choosing a behind the goal section, but me? I love it. Isn't going to be an option at Commonwealth I wouldn't think. Even if they do open up the end zones unless they move some temp seating up behind the goals I wouldn't care for being 40 yards back of the action. At least not by choice. So having said all that, I think those more in the know of how things are done at Commonwealth are going to have to take charge a little when it comes to choosing a section. All in all I don't really think ticket prices are going to be an issue, at least for the travelling supports. Thinking I'll set aside 1% of my travel budget for tickets. If it was section U for the Honduras match that looked pretty good for exposure, which is of course important. Have a hard time sitting though. Honestly I do. And I understand that for some (maybe most) of the casual ticket buying public this may be unusual and/or an annoyance. But what the Hell, I don't think it's going to prove too big an issue. At least in the group phase and hopefully by the time the knock out rounds have progressed this "soft" Canada support will have been converted. (Would be grand to be positioned behind the opposition bench though wouldn't it, eh?) Any-who, agreed. The sooner a section is determined the better. Get the word out, gather the clan and leave it so there's no unpleasant surprises for the casuals.
Daniel
Don't they rig the draw so Canada would play in Edmonton until the final??? Because Toronto-Edmonton-Edmonton-Toronto-Edmonton-Toronto to get the final seems pretty tiring...

Because Toronto-Edmonton-Edmonton-Toronto-Edmonton-Toronto to get the final seems pretty tiring... Very true. But according to this: http://www.bcsoccerweb.com/articles-jul/csa-jul-14.htm It could be a lot of travel if we don't win the group. If we do win the group, it's TO-Edm-Edm-Edm-Mtl-TO-TO Security tried to make us sit down for the Honduras match, but we just ignored them. Esp since they weren't even asking the Hondurans a section over in T to sit down. People either stood behind us and joined or moved back a few rows. Who says crowds of 8k don't have their advantages? Were more towards the other side of the field for the T&T 2000 WCQ, I think S, but STU are the middle three sections on that side. I don't mind the end zones either if you're high enough up, but at Commonwealth it's the worst seat in the house. You're probably 40 + yards from the back of the net in front of you and you have no depth. You'd probably be better off standing on the concourse behind the one goal. Provided they let you do that, I don't know. Even in the corners, I would think you'd want to be pretty high up because you're going to be far away. Which is why I think something on the sides are a must. cheers, matthew
The Beaver
My brother called to ask me if I wanted to buy a game-pack for all the games being played here in Vancouver, but now that it is clear that we will have two games in Edmonton I'm going to try to convince him and our wives and some other friends to go to Edmonton. Mind you, he gets married some time in July of next year. Maybe he can move the wedding.

Reza
I am all ready for the games in Edmonton. So count me in there and I wouldn't mind doing a bit organizing for this. As for Commonwealth, anywhere is fine to me.
matthew
Reza I think you'd be ideal to organize since you have some experience doing so. Are you in Edmonton these days? I can't recall. When are you getting tickets? There doesn't seem to be much opinion either way, should we just pick a section and start buying seats? Cheeta> good on you, do you want to collect the beer I owe you in teedot or deadmonton? You can cut one night of drinking out of your travel budget. cheers, matthew
Gordon
I was planning to try the Toronto-> Edmonton thingie to catch all of Canada's games, but I doubt that I will be able to get a ticket to the opener. Will be in Edmonton for the two Canada games, then play it by ear.
Reza
yeah, I am in e-town.. I think any section in the east is just fine...What do other people think? Essentially, we would then have to buy our tickets in that section. I am probably buying going to buy the Edmonton package, but I'll make sure it's in there... How about sections R or S or T about rows 15-20? Just a thought.
matthew
Well T is dead centre, how do we feel about Section T rows 15-20? Works for me. cheers, matthew
Cheeta
Bit high up isn't it? Never been to Commonwealth so wouldn't know but adding that crap track and all isn't that already a ways back. I mean, come on. I've as good a whiskey voice as anyone but that's a bit far to carry, no? Course it would put us right in the thick of the crowd as it were and that can be fun. Not shooting holes in anybodys boat, particularily those who are more in the know than I. Just floating thoughts out there. Tell me what section, and I'll be getting my tickets. quote:Originally posted by Gordon I was planning to try the Toronto-> Edmonton thingie to catch all of Canada's games, but I doubt that I will be able to get a ticket to the opener. Have the same worry. Depending how things go in Toronto there may not be anything available for the single ticket buyers for the home opener. Still, not so old and fat that I can't jump a fence. If all goes according to plan I personaly invite all Voyageurs to the Alberta ledge grounds for a pre match kegger hosted by your's truly. Bring your own cup. But try to show some class. There'll be no drinking on your hands and knees directly from the keg. King Ralph would not approve..
matthew
Well I would probably rather be up front because the sight lines are solid and you're high enough up (esp if you're standing), but I'm not too bothered either way. The 15-20 thing was the first opinion either way. In fact if we're all in the same section, even if we're not all together in a big cluster, it still might be effective. I wish they would tell us something, anything about the ticket selling process. If I knew when singles were going on sale I might hold off, instead I'm just going to buy the whole first round for Toronto and try to hock the last few games after I leave. It seems like the best option. If I'm spending however much to get there, I can deal with spending $70 for three games. cheers, matthew

We werre trying, but since FIFA is organizing this and not toronto FC, the U-Sector has very little say in where we actually end up section-wise. The majority of us bought Endzone and Corners ticket packages through the TFC ticket sale, and since all of the TFC tickets were processed at the same time, we should still (theoretically) be together somewhere in or near section 115 (our homebase in the new stadium). Reza
Well let's float ideas for a couple more days and then we'll decide on something and go from there... I would imagine that we must try quickly though, as in the next number of months seats fill. I like the close up seats myself as well, but I have seen people complaining as well...So if people are ok with closer to field seats, I am all for it as well.
