move the U-20WC final

5K.

Toronto failed the test. Edmonton drew 3 times that much for a similar game. Ottawa drew crowds in the 20K range for Women's National Team exibition games a few summers ago. Montreal has the Impact and the huge support behind it.

It's time for the CSA to rethink it's choice of Toronto as the host of the final game.

List of replacement cities

Montreal

Vancouver

Ottawa

Edmonton

It's not to late to avoid the humilition of a 1/3 full MLSE Stadium being beamed out to the second largest tv audience outside of the World Cup.

Let's try not to have any posters answer G-Man. He's just trolling and looking for a response so it is better to ignore him instead of constantly giving him the attention he craves.

I couldn't agree less! Just because G-Man does not agree with the majority of people does not mean we should not discuss with him. What kind of discussion are you in favour of? :

Poster 1: "I think we rock"

Poster 2: "I agree"

Poster 3: "Me too"

Poster 1: "Thanks guys, you do rock"

Poster 2.....you get it?

Why not tell G-Man why you think that last night's crowd is not an indicator of bad things to come next year rather than pouting about his post.

G-Man could probably help by being a tad less confrontational in his style....but that just seems to be the way he posts.

I disagree. I have long thought (as you do) that domestic soccer has, and will always have, trouble drawing a crowd in Toronto.

I think last night actually was a positive night. 5k on a Friday night for a lightly promoted game at ticket prices in a higher snack bracket than USL (Lynx) tells me that there is an audience looking for quality product. It will nead nurturing but I think it might be there....at least I am willing to consider the posibility that Toronto might show up next year for the WYC....not so sure on MLS though.

I'd do just that, but then G-Man would call me an MLSE lackey or whatever (even if what I posted has SFA to do with MLSE), so I'm going to abstain.

If G-Man were a legitimate poster posting well thought out posts that would be fine. Believe me I have been in enough discussions on this forum and don't have a problem with people that disagree with me. G-Man however is just a troll who has such a pathetic life and apparently nothing better to do than wasting his and our time posting constantly here things with the intent of pissing people off. I will admit every 50th post or so he actually posts something worthwhile. Too bad the other 98% of the time it is the same crap over and over that clutters up the board. I think the best response to people who troll and post crap all the time is to ignore them. People responding to him just increases the number and length of useless posts by him. If you want to discuss with him on threads constantly be my guest, it is your time to waste.

Porn. Really makes the women on the board feel welcome. It would seem Danny likes porno. Well done!

C-side!

The truth hurts. Just as Owen Hargreeves is the best soccer player to ever come out of Canada. It sucks, but it's true.

The 5K last night in Toronto shows that the market doesn't care. It see's Canadian soccer as bush league. As it does the Marlies. Had Italy-hold on- they played Toronto recently and drew 22K who half were Serbs.. throw that theory out the window...okay the truth:

Toronto is just a terrible soccer market. Last night proves it. I'm sure Rudi has a theory that everyone knew it would be two B squads playing and stayed away or that they were afraid that it would be the argo turf down and they hate football lines..or that they're all waiting for next year and the round robin game between Canada and Saudi Arabia.

Anything but the truth, which is:

NO ONE CARES IN TORONTO about SOCCER, besides a hardcore group of 2500. Sure the masses of Toronto will watch it on TV BUT it better be European soccer.

As for being a troll, I raise a valid concern.

As someone who lives outside of the soccer black hole, I am worried about an empty stadium, shown all over the world during the second largest sporting event on the planet. That we will lose future tourist visits to our country. That the massive TV exposure will be wasted as the people we so want to be like, dismiss us. Think of the children!

Especialy for a final, which may be a ghana/canada affair.

As for the bitch that there was no promotion of the game. I know that FIFA has rules on how the sport is promoted. How? I have asked the CSA directly that question.

FIFA is at fault here. They think the entire world is London or Berlin.

So there will be no more promotion of a U-20WC game than was done for last nights game, unless the LOCAL media starts writing about it or Rudi starts a website. I would have used Danny, but like the world needs another porno site.

I have to agree here....it really annoys me when people on this board (and it happens way too often) put images of young women in their posts or (even worse) that is their post.

If you have nothing intelligent to say about the subject at hand why not leave well enough alone instead of denegrating young women....I guess what I am saying is, if the best thing you can say about the strength of the soccer market in Toronto is "hey look at her, she has a nice body" then I would rather not hear it.
