[*]USL match report [*]Charleston Battery match report [*]Battery takes down Montreal - The Post and Courier (Charleston) Montreal Impact match report: IMPACT 1 CHARLESTON 3 CHARLESTON, South Carolina, May 13, 2006 – The Montreal Impact suffered its first loss of the season, Saturday, 3-1 against the Charleston Battery at Blackbaud Stadium. GOALS 39th minute – Forward Ben Hollingsworth scores on a penalty kick, after Impact midfielder Patrick Leduc accidentally touches the ball with his hand in the box. On the goal, Hollingsworth catches Impact goalkeeper Greg Sutton going the wrong way, with a low shot to the goalkeeper’s left. 60th minute – Midfielder Omar Daley doubles the Battery’s lead. Posted in the box on the right flank, Daley accepts a pass from Hollingsworth, swerves by the Montreal defense and beats Sutton with a high shot to the opposite side. 71st minute – Forward Daniel Antoniuk scores his first goal in an Impact uniform. Following a bicycle kick from midfielder Leonardo Di Lorenzo that rattles off the post, Antoniuk jumps on the rebound and scores in a partially empty net. 81st minute – The Battery regains a two-goal lead. Midfielder Stephen Armstrong serves a centering pass to forward Gavin Glinton, who scores with a diving header. NOTES • The Impact had not allowed three goals in a game since a 2-3 loss to the Toronto Lynx, in Montreal, July 16, 2003. POST GAME COMMENTS NICK DE SANTIS Nick De Santis "It’s disappointing to lose this way. In the first half, we were unable to make the decisive pass. The penalty kick really cut our legs and we were forced to play an open game. Charleston defended well throughout the game." MAURO BIELLO Mauro Biello "We’re disappointed, especially since we didn’t play all that bad. We were unlucky when the referee called a penalty kick. After that, they defended with 10 men. It’s never easy to come back into a game, especially on the road. The Battery was very quick on the counter-attacks." nolando
God, I can't believe Watson is still a starter on a decent A League side...Kudos to the guy, but he looked finished three or four years ago, in my eyes at least
