Guest Jeffery S.
Julian de Guzmán played his final match of the season for Deportivo as they fell to Alavés 1-0 away; he was subbed out for an attacker m. 58. Had a nice run and shot on goal a few minutes earlier, before mostly getting fouled as he worked the midfield. Alavés scored m. 79 and for 13 minutes had avoided relegation with the win, but with Espanyol scoring in extra time vs. Real Sociedad in another match they were thrown back into the despair of 2nd division. In spite of greater dramas around them, Depor needed the win to get a chance at Europe through the Intertoto, so they were not up to par and will be out of Europe next season. Coach Caparrós, who has used Julian a lot this year, has confirmed he'll be back for next season, but we'll see what he has to say about keeping him or throwing him in with the lot to be transfered out (probably 5-6 players will go in the summer). Guest Jeffery S.
Dani Fernandes was called back to Salonika for their last game of the season from preparations wtih the Portugal U-21s, but did not play as sub Tohouroglou got the start. They lost 1-2 at home. I suspect this will be the last post on Daniel here as he will be capped by Portugal soon.
CDN4EVR
Hainault played another 90 min in his last game of the season for Most. Score was 4-3 loss to Teplice so his club finished in 10th overall in the Gambrinus league. He's on his way home for 4 weeks and then returns back to Most where he has signed with the club for the next 2 seasons and will therefore be in the Czech Republic till May-2008. He's told me that the professionalism at the club far exceeded what he had expected and although looking forward to being home in Canada for a stretch is also anxious to start the season with the club in June, where he'll be in Italy for the Pre-season training. Guest Jeffery S.
Issey Nakajima-Farran played 60 in a 2-0 win over AB (Akademisk) in Denmark Div 1. Their goal of promoting was helped as two of the four other rivals for promotion at the top of the table lost, so they're 2nd with three points up on the rivals. An interesting note, Division leader Randers, a point up on Vejle, won the Danish Cup over a top flight side last week, meaning they will be in Europe next year whether they promote or not. I see Atiba's Copenhagen lost to Silkeborg at home in a meaningless match with the league already tied up. Not sure if he played yet though. Guest Jeffery S.
In Sweden once again Gerba did not play, but Göteborg beat Malmo 1-0 before 10,000 fans and are pushing to the top of the table. Good news for Tyler Hughes, who came on m. 55 for Östers, who lost at home to Djurgarden 0-3. Team is struggling with a win in 9 games, but he has made his way back into things, and no goal was scored when he was on the field.

Last night Ruiz took a ridiculous dive in the box after minimal contact from another Houston defender, and Adrian immediately got in his face about it. Ruiz later opened the scoring and during his celebration turned and rain directly into Adrian, with the ref about 5 feet away. No call. Ruiz should have gotten a yellow for either the dive of the charge at Adrian, eiter of which would have been his second yellow of the game after viciously elbowing another Houston player early in the match. Ceres
quote:Originally posted by Ivan Thanks Ceres. How has Atiba done at FCK? Is he still well regarded? Atiba is doing well and is regarded to be a regular... as you can see in ther stats below, then after he came to FCK in the winter break he has played all 90 minutes of all the 13 Superliga games in the very short spring season : http://www.netsuperligaen.dk/VisSpillerStatistik.php?SeasonID=2006&SpillerID=10837 FCK have promised to sign a few real top class reinforcements, expected to be key-regulars and to make the team ready for the Champions League qualification... And FCK is the only team in Scandinavia that dont need to sell any players and at the same time can afford to just go out and sign the players on top of their wanted list.. The financial gap between FCK and other Scandinavian club is simply that big. Just to give you a clue of the differences, then FCK produced a turnover in 2004/05 of €60 million, Net Profit 2004/05 was €5 million, Net capital 2004/05 was €70.7 million and the total assets/value of FCK (including the value of Parken Stadium) was just around €157.2 million last season. In compare Danish Brøndby produced a turnover of around €20.7 million in 2005 and Norwegian Rosenborg produced a budget of just around €15 million in 2005 (Of this figure their VIP and Sponsor income was just around €6.7m)... If you look at the FCK turnover/budget then of the €60m figure the VIP and Sponsor income was just around €11m... Entrance, ticket fees, television fees and price money €16.4m... Merchandise €2.8m... Rent of Parken stadium (e.g. to the Danish NT and other events) €4.4m... The rest of the income/turnover was (besides transfer fees) other kinds of sales that has nothing to do with soccer, like concerts, lease of investment properties, conference centre etc. . sstackho
This article says that Serioux fractured his toe. DYNAMO SUMMARY BERNARDO FALLAS Staff 350 words 14 May 2006 Houston Chronicle 4 STAR ; 0 4 English © 2006 Houston Chronicle. Provided by ProQuest Information and Learning. All Rights Reserved. Bad blood Before leaving the match with a fractured left toe, Dynamo defender Adrian Serioux and FC Dallas forward Carlos Ruiz went at it again on Saturday, turning up the level of rough play in a physical series. Just 10 minutes into the match, referee Brian Hall ordered the players to separate after a defensive play by Serioux turned into an exchange of words. During their first encounter May 6, Serioux and Ruiz nearly clashed on the field after the Guatemalan international pulled Serioux's hair. "That's what I'm used to, though," Serioux said. "That's the game. I'm going to try to get in his head to throw him off his game and he's going to try to do the same with me."
