This is a thread about fake grass- so I'll leave out the point about how they didn't have any problem playing at the Skydome period, but our National team does and the Toronto MLS does as well.

Toronto's stadium will seem to be the only MLS stadium in the long-term that will have FieldTurf or any next generation turf. The SSS's for Red Bull NY, Real Salt Lake, and Houston will all have natural grass surfaces. It is as much about hosting more non-soccer events than it being there for a feel good reason. HDC in Carson has Two soccer teams, some US Nats games (Men and Women) A IRB Rugby 7's competiton (not to mention possible future USA National Team games), X-Games events, and concerts.

The problem with FieldTurf is that it can get pounded into the ground really quick and lose a lot of the advantages. With the sked that would be set for TO, that field is going to get a lot of pounding. Certainly the CSA is going the use the Women's national team to fill up many of their required dates given the resistance from the men's team.
