My personal opinion is the league made a huge mistake after the 1989 season my expanding to London and Kitchener. It gave the impression of the CSL being very minor league and set it back in the average fans mind. They should have concentrated efforts on shoring up the existing sides including lobbying to get better ownership and facilities. That was a real chance missed as we were very much ahead of the U.S. then on the professional front and we could have been close to them when the MLS started if the CSL would have solidified its position in the early 90s.

I agree with you re. your London/Kitchener comments. I don't remember what I was thinking at the time but I did go to JW Little for a London match and Centennial in Kitchener for a match and it just didn't really feel like things were going to work.

The soccer was adequate but the presense of these two cities hurt the overall impression of the league IMO.
