BrennanFan
Interesting that Bernier was voted/chosen Quebec Player of the year for 2005. From Babelfish: In our edition of February of Quebec Soccer, we devote a report to Patrice Bernier, elected player of the year 2005 in Quebec and which evolves/moves in Tromsø, the club more in north of planet. This team has another thing of private individual: its attraction for the Canadian players, to which Bernier apparently opened the way. Indeed, Stephen Ademolu and Lars Hirschfeld were transferred there and the guard, who has just left, was replaced by Kenny Stamatopoulos. But it is not because it has compatriots in the team that Bernier keeps away from the other players. "I am not held more with the Canadians that with the Norwegians, it explains. Perhaps a little in the cloakroom, but outwards, not, even if one gets along well. And then, I arrived before them. Perhaps that on their side, they can ask me certain councils because I know how that functions." Bernier is not however the first Canadian to be forwarded by Tromsø, even if the passage of other were médiatisé less. "Before us, there was Kevin Harmse, which had remained six months, and Sita-Taty Matondo, had come in the young people. Now, they ask us with each one: do you know other Canadian who could come here, even as juniors?" It is that the Canadians have the dimension in Norway more and more. And as those which are there are powerful on the ground, they serve the others which seek a means of putting the foot in Europe. "There are also Grande, Hirschfeld, Friend and Olivier (Occéan) in other teams of D1, four others in Haugesund in D2. There is a good Canadian reputation. That becomes easier for other Canadian to come, than it is in test or to sign immediately. Now, when an agent says that it has a Canadian to propose, the clubs require how it is compared to those which are already there. They have references, they know that they play with so-and-so and so-and-so, that they know, in national team. It is also important for the Inhabitants of Quebec and the reputation of the soccer from here." Bernier finds also some of his fellow-members (or competitors) of Norway under the shirt of the national team. A behaviour that more and more of players want to carry with pride. "environment is good there and everyone knows itself. Many players evolved/moved together in the young people. Everyone gets along with everyone. Yallop gave their chance to the players of A-League (sic) and it group passed from a score of players to a little more than 30. The players who evolve/move in Canada, one can call them more regularly and they do not have the same level of tiredness. Moreover, that gives credibility to a team like the Impact and its players can be measured." A group for which the next expiries are perhaps remote but which has ambition. "the results and our services show us that, certainly, one is perhaps not ready for the World cup 2006 but one has a good generation. On the ground, one learns from our errors. The coach will be able to align a team which relies more on itself and solely does not think of defending. It is seen that one is in the good curve. There are time to rise like applicants in the third place of the zone, behind Mexico and the United States." To know some more about the life of Bernier in Norway, its ambitions, its impressions about its country of adoption, its glance about the Québécois soccer or to know its councils with young people, do not miss the edition of February of Quebec Soccer.
