Gian-Luca
quote:Originally posted by BusanBhoy G-L arn't we at 13? I was thinking opening day for the new stadium, which is likely to be June 2007, which would be 15 months. If there's a home game or two at the Skydome not sure if we will have our own section....but we might have the first 8 games on the road or something. Who knows at this point. BusanBhoy
Mo are you joking? Mo what you been smoking? "what is this Union thing?" Why my boy, Union is to football as water is to fish. Union is to our fair city as oxygen is to life. Union is your past, your present and your future. Union is your faith, your hope, your dreams. Union is that feeling that comes as you climax (appologies for any assumptions). Union is alpha and omega. In short, Union is YOUR team.

If you are a news junkie and have a sense of humour I would suggest adding the word THE and changing the U in UNION to an O. That would work too. And it would be less painful. -rod

Gian-Luca
That's more or less the timing we were thinking of. We could be anal and suggest March 26th just so that we continue the once per month trend. Maybe we could get some feedback for people on a preference, if there is one. The other thing to talk about is location. How does everyone feel about the Wheatsheaf? Its apparently possibly the closest to where the stadium will be, and as far as we know no members of Smashing Pumpkins serve beer there.
SeanKeay
April 2nd would be the best for me around 4 or 5, since later that night i will be in toronto anyways at a buddys place watching wrestlemania and plus id rather i can pre drink wrestlemania at the meeting

Gian-Luca
Sunday is better for one other reason, no bar competition with hockey games that we would face on Saturday night, even if interest in the Leafs for this season will have waned consirably more by that time..... There is also an "Irish" pub further west of the Sheaf called The Foggy Dew. It's part of chain...but two of the others I've been to were pretty good (The Pour House, and Murphy's Law). http://www.toronto.com/restaurants/listing/000-151-754 I've never been to the Dew, but this could also be a suitable location. It being "Irish" might support a soccer group. Someone would have to pop in and take a look and report back on what's on tap. If I'm in the area... I'll pop in. But then again I think the Sheaf would be slightly cheaper. And the food ain't terrible. I actually like the shoe leather steaks. BusanBhoy
Rod, how far west? As yet we don't know if the king car will divert to the ex, as it used to do for jays games. The only thought when originaly suggesting the wheatsheaf was the bathurst car going straight to the ground. I never thought to ask about this kind of thing at the meeting. The Dew is within walking distance of Bathurst. Not far west of The Sheaf... stumbling distance if you will. 5minutes? If that. -rod

Or even a corner that we could invade and take over without much of a problem? That's what we need to find out... and if they want us there. But we can establish a "routine" with the pub after the first one... so long as they don't throw us out. -rod
