Ivan
quote:Originally posted by Jeffrey S. I have read that Steven Vitoria has been called up for a Portugal national team date, u-20. Not sure if that is true or not, I wonder if anyone could help confirm it. I thought I read somewhere, a month or so ago, that the U20s were heading to Portugal for a mini tournament with 3 other nations. I looked, but cannot find any reference to it. On BS forum someone has posted that this Vitoria kid has been playing with Portugal U-20's.
Ivan
Thanks for clearing that up Loyola. Didn't Vitoria just play for us at the Manchester Camp?
loyola
According to this release, he wasn't called : http://www.canadasoccer.com/eng/media/viewArtical.asp?Press_ID=2330 Maybe you're confusing him with Kyle Oliveira (another portuguese name I think). And there's no Vitoria in our players pool: http://www.canadasoccer.com/eng/nationals/roster.asp?top=banner_legs&sub=
Ivan
I guess it was wishful thinking. Definately not confusing him with Oliveira. I know Vitoria was discussed on this board (pure speculation on possible lineups for 2007) as a potential starter in the back four for 2007. Too bad. Hopefully he's "just testing the waters" or "keeping his options open". Haven't we heard enough of that before!
RS
Adrian Serioux has apparently been signed (finally) by the Metrostars. http://www.bigapplesoccer.com/article.php?article_id=5531 quote:The MetroStars search for a replacement for Michael Bradley in defensive midfield has come to an end. Canadian international Adrian Serioux and French teenager Elie Ikangu have agreed to contract terms and an official annoucement is pending visa approval. Serioux will be a senior international while Ikangu will be a junior international.

He is with Porto youth it seems.
