DJT
Thanks to a poster named "ranger" on the N54 board for the heads-up that Ryan Thomson is back in Germany: Ryan Thomson - Tennis Borussia Berlin (Oberliga NOFV Nord) (4) (Note that the Oberliga NOFV Nord is different from the Oberliga Nord where Canizales plays with Hannover 96 Amateurs.) Club site (front page) Club announcement of Thomson's signing Club profile of Thomson Note to Kurosawa: I added Thomson to the list, moved Hutchinson to FCK, moved Issey Farran Nakajima to a trial at Millwall as posted by Sigma in another thread, and made the correction noted by Rudi. However, I left Courcelle at Royal Excelsior Mouscron because you didn't make the change yourself and I thought there might be a reason for that. Grizzly
Info on TeBe who my club played against in several matches I attended. This is a west Berlin club which somehow has a bit of money but not very many fans. To be fair it probably has a decent fan size by fourth division standards but it is not one of the teams in the region with a large fan base. They have played in the 2nd and 3rd division in recent times and had quite low attendance for this level. It was founded as a tennis and soccer club, hence the name. The NOFV North is the north division of the north east football association which is basically the northern half of the football division of the former east Germany with West Berlin added to it. TeBe is in 10th place which is surprisingly low since only about half of the teams in this division are clubs of any substantial size. There are a couple of big clubs who have fallen on hard times in this division including the former powerhouses of the GDR Dynamo Berlin and also Union Berlin who have a large fan base and were recently in the 2nd Bundesliga. Babelsburg is also a fairly big team and Hansa Rostock's reserve team plays in the league. There are also a couple of Turkish ethnic clubs. The level of play is a bit below USL level but the salary is probably better and he will certainly have a much better chance of transfering to a higher division if he does well. He certainly should be a regular starter at TeBe. In his profile he is listed as having Scottish nationality which is probably how he his able to play at this level. The lower the division in Germany the harder it is to get a work permit for a non-EU player.

DJT
Kurosawa, I updated the list with everything noted above that you have not yet dealt with plus stuff posted in other threads, and I fixed a few relatively minor errors. I decided to change the colour system. I think it's best to use a new colour for each date that changes are made, then go back and remove the oldest one after a few colours have been used. I think this makes it easier for both editors and readers to track changes. For the same reason, when a player is to be deleted from the list completely, I think it's better to leave him on the list but crossed off for a while. quote:Originally posted by thunderguy The Ryan Thomson you have listed is actually Ryan Thompson (with a p) There is much confusion over this. From your posts it sounds as though you know him or his family (or you are him or his family? ), so I'll take your word for it that it is "Thompson". But both Rot-Weiss Essen and now Tennis Borussia Berlin list him as "Thomson" (most of the time), and that is how the name appears in many articles and updates, so it becomes difficult to follow if we're only looking for "Thompson". Hence, I listed him under both names. Any idea why his clubs keep using "Thomson"?
analyst
I hope to have good news soon about two BC players trying to get on with teams in Europe. 19 year old Rob Sing from Coquitlam is on trial with Italian Serie B team Triestina. 16 year Vladimir Vukovic completed a weekend trial with French Div 1 team Sochaux. Neither player has EU family connections, so securing a contract is more difficult for them.
Winnipeg Fury
Gavin McCallum Signs Pro Contract with Yeovil Town FC February 14, 2006 (Release) - Francois Glasman and Clayton Rosario of Shooting Stars Soccer International are proud to announce the signing of Canadian U20 International Gavin McCallum to Yeovil Town FC in the UK to a 18 month Pro contract. Francois Glasman of SSSI is also responsible for launching the careers of other Canadian National Players like Julian Deguzman and Mike Klukowski. He once took young Jonathon Deguzman for an assessment to Olympic de Marseille who were willing to sign him but his father felt he was too young at the time. SSSI is in the process of purchasing a French Club or creating a base there were our Canadian players and teams can train and gain valuable experience. Clayton Rosario Technical Director of SSSI has always believed that the talent is here but the club system lacks quality coaching, a quality league for youth, and professional mangers for placement of players overseas. He feels that the launching of the new SAAC league will definitely raise the bar and help many players.

manutd1
17/2/06 - Preece looks at ex-Shaker FORMER Bury midfielder Terry Dunfield could kick-start his football career at Worcester City. Dunfield, 23, will train with City as he bids to complete a comeback more than a year after breaking his kneecap. The Canadian netted the second goal for City's reserves on Wednesday evening in a 3-1 Central Conference Cup victory at Alfreton Town. That was his first full 90-minute outing since damaging his kneecap and sustaining ligament damage during a league match between Bury and Leyton Orient in January 2005. During his Gigg Lane reign, Worcester boss Andy Preece signed Dunfield from Manchester City and the Vancouver-born international made 70 appearances for the Shakers. Dunfield is hoping to clinch a Football League return and is also training with Macclesfield Town. He may, however, ignite his career at St George's Lane, mirroring the fortunes of fellow Canadian Justin Thompson. Preece insists the player's welfare comes first and describes any future first-team appearances from Dunfield as a bonus. "Terry's been out for nearly a year. He broke his kneecap and is just making his way back," said Preece. "We are giving him an opportunity to get himself fit and if anything more develops, then that would be a bonus. If circumstances are right for both parties, then something might happen. "Once he's fit, he would like to get back into the Football League. That may well happen for him. "It's obviously a long road back for him. That reserve game was his first game back. It's just a matter of him getting himself fit and right. I still think it's a few weeks before he will be properly fit. He's just got to take it steady."
