Ivan
Livescore says Simpson has scored for Millwall today. Could be the winner if Mllwall can hang on. 2-1 with about 5 minutes left!
Guest Jeffery S.
Thus far in England: Simpson came on as a sub at the half and the team promptly tied the game, Simpson got his goal mid 2nd half on a right-footed shot from the left side of the box. De Vos played 90 as Ipswich beat Luton 1-0. A foul he drew led to their goal. Stalteri played his usual 90, the only outfield player to have seen every minute in Premiership this year, as Spurs beat Newcastle 2-0 to draw even with Liverpool for third, pending the Reds game now with West Brom. sstackho
The BBC calls Simpson a forward: "Young forward Josh Simpson grabbed the winner for Millwall just three minutes after Ben May's equaliser."
sstackho
Pesch gets on in the 86th with a 2-1 lead over league leaders Reading. But Reading tie it up in the 88th and it ends 2-2. Boo.
trueviking
stalteri looked like he wants to figure in some of the offence....he was jumping up into the offensive play much more today than he was earlier in the season.
Peschfan
Derby have just lost two strikers, Marcus Tudgay has just gone out on loan to Sheffield Wednesday, and Danny Graham's loan ended and has gone back to Boro (Derby are trying to extend the loan). this leaves Pesch and assistant Manager Dean Holdworth as the only two strikers at the club, winger Tommy Smith can also play upfront. Derby said they are going to sign a new striker in the transfer window, hard to say wether Pesch will stay or go at this point.
Grizzly
DUO MISSING FOR RAMS Millwall boss David Tuttle looks set to make changes for the Championship visit of Derby to the New Den on Bank Holiday Monday. The Lions boss wasted no time in shuffling his pack against Brighton on New Year's Eve as he made a triple substitution at the break - sending on Barry Cogan, Marvin Williams and Josh Simpson as his side trailed 1-0. It worked wonders as they rallied to win 2-1 and now all three players are pushing for a starting berth against the Rams. Simpson in particular pressed his claims emphatically with a 50th-minute winner at the Withdean and Tuttle admitted: "The three that came on have a lot of pace, which is what we needed. They came on and did well." Marvin Elliott failed a late fitness test on a knee injury ahead of the Brighton game and will be assessed again prior to kick off. Derby boss Phil Brown will be forced into two changes for the trip to Millwall. Striker Danny Graham has completed his loan spell and returned to Middlesbrough after starring in the 2-2 New Year's Eve draw with Reading, while fellow Boro loanee Andrew Davies is suspended after being sent off for the third time this season in that game. Paul Peschisolido could be in line to replace Graham in attack, while Michael Johnson looks to be favourite to take Davies' place in defence. Adam Bolder and Lee Holmes could both keep their spots after coming into the side for the Reading clash, while Morten Bisgaard will be pushing for a return to the squad after missing out completely against the Royals. Teach
DOes anyone know what happened to Adrienne Serioux? I don't think that he is with Plymouth Arglye anymore. What about Darren Bent? Gian-Luca
I think you mean Jason Bent and Adrian Serioux. The latter was with Millwall but left the team to return to North America to be with his mother who was ill. Last reports are that he's doing fine, he will be at the January camp for the USA friendly in a few weeks and may be with the Metrostars this upcoming season. As for Jason Bent, he hasn't been with Plymouth for awhile. We are all awaiting an update on his status.
sstackho
Today in the CCC: - De Vos plays the whole match and scores a goal in the 7th minute in a 2-2 draw away to Stoke. Ipswich drop to 15th. - Simpson and Pesch both start on the bench for Millwall hosting Derby. Derby scores in the 60th and Simpson is brought on in the 68th. Within ten minutes, Millwall have scored two. Pesch comes on in the 80th, but Millwall hangs on for the 2-1 win. Millwall remain in 23rd spot, but only two points from safety. Derby drop to 18th. - Hume is subbed off for Leicester in the 54th minute with the score 0-0 away to Crystal Palace. Palace miss a penalty but put a couple more in the net for a 2-0 win (and their fourth win on the trot!). Leicester are in 21st, only two points from the relegation zone. - Brennan comes on at the half with the score 0-0 at home against Preston, but Preston score three in the second half for a 0-3 win. Norwich are 11th. - No Bircham as he is presumably injured (he came off early in the match two days ago) as QPR and Burnley draw 1-1. QPR are 13th. In the Prem: - Radzinski plays the whole match as Fulham come back to beat Sunderland 2-1. Fulham move up to 14th. - Spurs play away to Man City on Wednesday. VI
Josh Simpson is still fighting for playing time with Millwall. As mentioned above he got another late start. I got this off the "House of Fun" web site. "Well done to the lads today but I thought that we were outfought and out thought for the first 60 minutes. Only when we got Simpson on and went 4-4-2 did we start to get at them. Additionally, our full backs started to push up and it was a different game." Blue and White Army
Selhurst is fairly close to me; I go by it every time I take the train to central London. Have meant to get to a game. Cheerleaders are becoming increasingly common on this side of the pond. A frightening trend, indeed!
sstackho
Are the "Palace Crystals" still rather young kids/teenagers? It seems more a kiddie thing. Still, a bit sad. But you have got to love the song for Jobi McAnuff! To the tune of "Give It Up" by the immortal KC & The Sunshine Band: Nananananananana... Jobi McAnuff, McAnuff... Jobi McAnuff! Selhurst was voted the worst football ground toilets in England. Mainly for the away supporters, I hope.
sstackho
quote:Originally posted by Sigma I take it you are a Palace supporter? [8D] Good guess. Which means I have mixed feelings about Millwall and Simpson. But still, I want to see the boy do well. Simpson's net gain HUW TURBERVILL 169 words 2 January 2006 The Daily Express 54 English © 2006 Express Newspapers BRIGHTON 1 MILLWALL 2 IT was party time in Josh Simpson's family home in Vancouver. Huddled around their computer, they were jumping for joy when it flashed up that he had struck the winner. It was the midfielder's first goal of the season and only his second since he was signed 18 months ago. It also took Millwall off the bottom. Simpson, above, is out of contract in the summer but showed his worth as one of three half-time changes made by new manager David Tuttle, whose side trailed to Dean Hammond's early goal. The gamble paid off, with young striker Ben May firing in the equaliser a minute into the second half and Simpson scoring four minutes later. It gave Tuttle his first win, and his appointment has clearly delighted the 22-year-old Simpson. "This is a real big result, " he said. "The substitutions gave us pace and we caught Brighton off guard in the second half."

Guest Jeffery S.
quote:Originally posted by Sigma Leicester Mercury on Hume yesterday vs Crystal Palace. Essentially they said he didn't have a very good day, but he was 'eager.' Oh yeah, BWA, Selhurst Park has good atmosphere but I think tickets can cost as much as 35 pounds which is far too much for a CCC side. Best bet is to go against one of the lower placed clubs in the CCC to get a better deal. I recall playing 21 pound adult and 14 children at Loftus Road for a QPR game a year and a half ago, that was about 25 rows up in the main grandstand. That was not exactly cheap for the entertainment value, crowd was fine but not spectacular, but certainly less that the price you are citing. I got in free on a friend of a friend's season ticket to a Tranmere game last year, but I think the tickets opposite the grandstand down low (row 5, very close to play) were only 10 quid, which I thought was quite reasonable. Drizzly November day. Is it normal to vary prices for every game in England depending upon the opponent and day? Here every single top flight match varies in function of opponent, day, season, time even. For example the return leg in the King's Cup for Barça vs. Zamora has general admission at 5 Euros, a real deal. Unfortunately they already resolved the tie in the away leg so little chance of seeing the stars in that match. In contrast, lower tier games tend to be always the same price week in week out.
