Rocket Robin
can't find an on-line story about this but the next Summer Olympics will have 12 women's teams in the soccer competition instead of just 10. Canada missed out by one spot last time so there's more chances that they will be there in China 2008.
The Ref
Women soccer is growing in numbers all over. There is still more to come. I don't believe Canada will have more chances this time, everybody else is getting way better and we don't seem to be going places. We keep shuffling players and trying new ones when we need some stability instead. Pellerud does not take 2007 or 2008 as a given, he admits the team needs to "qualify" first. Perhaps he still has some bad taste in his mouth from the last fiasco against Mexico and a Maribel Dominguez he refused to man-mark her, thinking that his "famous" or perhaps infamous "zone defence" would do the trick. I hope this time he will listen to his players when they tell him, who needs to be marked all the time!
