Guest Ed
Nobody posted this yet but Dwayne de Rosario and Pat Onstad cannot repeat the miracle comeback from 2 years ago and are out of the MLS playoffs, losing 4-2 on aggregate. LA came into San Jose up 3-1 and it looked like San Jose might come back when they went into halftime up 1-0. However, a great through ball from the much-hated Donovan springs Grabavoy who cleverly chips over a sliding Onstad and San Jose couldn't connect on numerous chances. Dwayne had some good opportunities but, like most of his team mates, could not click last night. Absolutely brutal refereeing again with both sides (LA's Albright in particular) resembling rugby players for much of the night. At one point, Donovan was arm tackled to the ground by Ricardo Clark, broke contact and continued his run. No card. A couple of nice elbows thrown too. I counted about 10 yellow cards before I gave up (about 3 of them to Albright); only 1 was issued in the whole game.
Guest Jeffery S.
quote:Originally posted by Sigma Just a clarification. The game against Luxembourg is on November 16th (not on a weekend). If the 2nd leg is on the 12th of November, he could still make the game on at the 16th. Quite right, I was thinking the 19th. In any case Rob has games the 6th (Cup), 12th and I think 19th (or 20th), all of them critical (unless they get a great first leg result on the 12th and they can coast in the 2nd leg). Not the best time to call him in for a friendly of this nature.
Guest Stian Stryni
Yet a report from Norway. Rob Friend tells tv-stations that he will not follow Molde to the 1. division if they are relegated. Lars Hirschfeld was outstanding against Rosenborg. Dagbladet gave him an eight out of ten as the only player in tippeligaen the last round! Man of the Match. In the local newspaper "Tromso" he got 5 out of 6 as the only player. This has added more life to the Rosenborg rumors, and both Bernier and Hirschfeld might go to Rosenborg after this season. Patrice Bernier probably runs longer than any other, as he has to help out in the defence today. Several smart passes which could have been dangerous. 4/6 Stephen Ademolu will hardly forget his huge miss in the first half (this being his second unbelivable miss in short time) as he stumbles before the open goal. Of course his first goal in tippeligaen is much valued but he does many strange things. Have to work more on his defence. Is substitued because his tired. Unfinish player 2/6. Scores from "Tromso"
mjoni
Ademolu has awesome speed, he just needs to work on his control and positioning. It's the same thing they said about him in Trelleborg. When he develops those aspects of his game, he'll be a dangerous striker.
Winnipeg Fury
Three Canucks (Lars, Bernier, Gerba), all tied to rumours of moves to RBK, the biggest club in Scandinavia (Lars is succeding for one reason. He is playing and he must continue to play). Friend is fighting demotion with Molde, but finishes as one of the top strikers in Norway. An incredible feat considering there were many games in which his weak side played him as the lone striker up front. The four Canucks are all promoted back to the First Division with Haugesund. Occean's season with Odd Grenland could be viewed as a bit of a let-down after last season strong showing, be he still finished in the top 10 in Norway (or very close to it). Ademolu moves from second tier Sweden to top tier Norway, and breaks into the starting squad of TIL. Overall, a great season for Canucks in Norway. Let's hope more Canucks follow their lead. DjinnX
Jaime Peters scored a hat-trick for the Ipswich reserves against the Watford reserves on Monday. Good to see him finding the net. Massive Attack
From the weekend in Italy: Julian Uccello did not play in Sansovino's 0-0 draw with Castelnuovo on Friday. According to a poster on bigsoccer, he was back in Canada for his sister's wedding. Rocco Placentino came on in the 71st minute as Gualdo were defeated 2-0 by Reggiana on Sunday. David Masciantonio played the entire match for Monterotondo as they beat Ferentino 5-1 on Sunday. David scored the winner in the 52nd minute. sstackho
Hume report from the weekend: Hume lacks killer touch By Drew Mackenzie 189 words 30 October 2005 The Express on Sunday 120 English © Copyright Express Newspapers 2005 Preston 0 Leicester 0 LEICESTER'S Iain Hume wasted two glorious opportunities to make Preston lament the one that got away as North End's miserable home sequence stretched to eight games without a win this season. The Canadian international, who signed for the Foxes after having agreed to join Preston, had the goal at his mercy once in each half. His first effort hit the side net and the second keeper Carlo Nash - to the relief of Preston fans who booed the striker's every touch. Preston had their chances too, but it wasn't difficult to see why they had managed just three goals at home this season. Matt Hill's header was saved by keeper Rab Douglas and David Jones zipped a 20-yard free-kick just wide of the Leicester goal. But that was it and Leicester finished the stronger. Joey Gudjonsson skimmed the Preston post with a vicious free-kick and Momo Sylla shot inches wide. Gudjonsson forced two good saves in the closing moments. American striker Jemal Johnson, on his Preston debut, was booked for diving.
Bertuzzi44
quote:Originally posted by DjinnX Jaime Peters scored a hat-trick for the Ipswich reserves against the Watford reserves on Monday. Good to see him finding the net. Hopefully he can win some more time on the first team. Match Report: Town's reserves thrashed Watford's second string 8-1 at Portman Road on Monday night. A hat-trick from Jaime Peters, a brace from Billy Clarke and goals from Aidan Collins, Liam Craig and an own goal from Adam Griffiths secured the win. Watford had the first real attack on four minutes when a low cross from Alex Campana was turned goalwards by Francino Francis but Chris Casement did well to block his effort. Six minutes later Town almost took the lead when a Liam Craig corner should've been headed in by Aidan Collins but the big defender didn't get enough contact on the ball. On 13, a cross from Watford's left should have been headed in by veteran striker Les Ferdinand but he didn't make any contact with the ball. Town opened the scoring on 21 minutes with a lovely flowing move. Craig passed the ball out wide to Liam Trotter who put in a good cross and Billy Clarke took a touch before turning his man and firing into the bottom corner of the net. A minute later and Sammy Moore received a booking from Mr Cann after a late tackle on Watford's Michael Bardle. On 24 Town doubled their lead with an extremely fast counter-attack. The lively Clarke played a sublime through-ball into the path of Jaime Peters who was too quick for his man and he finished well with his left foot from 18 yards out. Another good move five minutes later didn't quite produce a goal but again it was lovely football to watch. The ball was threaded into Danny Haynes who turned the ball across goal for the oncoming Trotter but his shot flew just wide from 12 yards. It was 3-0 to Town on 31 after a good cross from Peters was only half-cleared and Clarke hit a right-footed drive which Sanna tipped round his post. A superb corner routine came off when the ball was rolled in to the edge of the 18-yard box, dummied and Craig hit a wonderful left-foot shot into the bottom corner of the net. Three minutes later Watford missed the opportunity to get a goal back. A penalty was given against Town's James Krause after he was adjudged to have handled the ball inside the area. Up stepped Ferdinand who hit a good enough penalty but Shane Supple produced a magnificent save to keep it out. Another good counter-attack by Town produced yet another goal. A cross from Peters was going into Sanna's diving arms but defender Adam Griffiths stuck out a foot and the ball went flying into the empty net. Billy Clarke made it 5-0 at half-time with a goal in the second minute of added on time. Yet another fine cross from Peters was headed into the corner of the net by Clarke. Watford made one change at half-time when they replaced left-back Sietes with Jordan Parkes. Watford's Junior Osborne got booked a minute later for a late challenge on James Krause. But Town responded two minutes after the Watford goal when a Liam Craig freekick was met by Jaime Peters who headed in to make it 6-1. Gerard Nash then replaced Chris Casement at the heart of the Town defence as he continues his return after undergoing a cartilage operation in the summer. . . . Canadian international Peters completed the scoring in the final minute to secure an 8-1 victory for a very impressive Town side. Billy Clarke and Jaime Peters both had extremely impressive games, while Shane Supple was confident and did well in the Town goal.

Guest Jeffery S.
Viking is at Hamburg at 6:30 PM and Tromso at Strasbourg later in the only sides with Canucks going today in Uefa action. Paok and Fernandes are off. A Viking win will probably assure them the next round, while Tromso, after losing the first day, will need points today to keep their hopes up. Guest Stian Stryni
Tromso lost of course as you all know with the score 0-2. Ademolu who was playing striker in place of Ole Martin Aarst (yellow cards) had two great scoring opportunities. The one mentioned by mjoni where he came alone with the goalie, hit the inside of the post put wouldn't cross the line. The other was a beautiful header, which the goalie unbelivingly was able to fist into the pole and out. Hirschfeld again (boringly enough) was tromso's best player, with some amazing saves holding TIL in the game. Both Strasbourg goals where obvious mistakes in Tromsos defence, nothing Lars could do about it. The first goal was a very pretty lobb, where Lars nearly reached the ball after rushing out to meet the player who all of a sudden was all alone in front of goal. The second one, a lone Strasbourg attacker rushed pass three defenders no-one coping with the pace, and he executed the shoot perfectly, where Ademolu earlier hit the post. All players got 2 or 3 on the scoreboard except for Lars gaining a 5 on the 1-6 scale.
