Andy Scott, in his quest for funding for a 15,000 seat stadium in Moncton. This stadium is to be built for the 2008 World Jr Track and Field Championship. But it will give another natural grass stadium for CSA friendlies and U-s tourneys in Canada.

Time is short announcement of the location of the 2008 World Jr Track and Field city is to come in November. Moncton is the only Canadian city in the final selections.

Hell even "no spend"....gotta have a balanced budget, Bernard Lord said he'd match federal $ so give it up Ottawa.

I hope this stadium gets built and Moncton gets federal funds for it. However, shouldn't someone asking for support from people across Canada for a stadium in his city be more supportive of the funding going into building the Toronto stadium? This type of me first and if not noone else attitude is what has hurt soccer so much in Canada in the past.

I think sometimes I may over state things. But federal funding for a smaller stadium in Toronto doesn't bother me. Or even an MLS team in Toronto doesn't bother me. What has for some unknown reason stuck in my craw is the CSA's approach to these projects. I can't explain it. it is an emotional response. But I can't get over the CSA's out right cheer leading. We've heard nothing from the CSA on other proposed facilities. I hope Toronto does get the stadium and MLSE buys into MLS, if they want, it's their money. But the CSA is not showing itself to have the same concerns getting other stadiums built.

In my weak little head I draw a distinction between building a stadium and a national sports body cheer leading one stadium.

Maybe the CSA will prove down the road that they have the some concern for other areas of the country as Athletics Canada has had in supporting facilities in various regions, Northern Ontario and Quebec and now Atlantic. But so far the CSA has had little or nothing to say in way of support for other proposed stadiums.

As a fellow New Brunswicker I very much want to see the Moncton stadium built. I'll definitely attend any MNT or age-group games that may be held there. However I am also in favour of the MLSE in MLS, as I think it will improve Canadian soccer as a whole. As for the CSA, I think it's more a matter of them fighting one battle at a time. If they get the Toronto thing approved, I expect they will then start to address other issues / other regions more actively. Just my opinion.
