davebarr
Since Fulham's switch to a 4-5-1, Collins John has gotten most of the striker work. Not good news for Radzinski.
davebarr
quote:Originally posted by Ed No love lost between LA and San Jose in a nasty game today. Quakes go down 3-1 in the opening leg and will need to win by 2 at home next weekend to advance to the semis. Dwayne had chances but no goals. Dwayne's great in MLS. Always an exciting goal or two that makes the highlite reel, but why is he invisible for the NT?
Guest Jeffery S.
De Guzman did not get off the bench for Depor, who lost 2-0 in Anoeta, home of the Real Sociedad. Oddly enough the team did not play Tristán either, really with no strong strikers on the squad. With midweek matches this week, on a match day brought forward to give the Spain national team time to prepare their World Cup playoff next month, Depor receives Real Madrid in La Coruña. Perhaps with this extra match midweek Caparrós chose to rest players, and I am sure we'll see Julian in the squad soon. R. Madrid are without Ronaldo and Baptista injured, Beckham and Graveson red-carded last night vs. Valencia. It is the right time to take the points from them. Massive Attack
Julian Uccello came on in the 62nd minute for Sansovino and Rocco Placentino came on in the 80th minute for Gualdo in a match that Sansovino won 2-1 yesterday in Serie C2B. David Masciantonio started for Monterotondo in their 1-1 tie with Ostiamare in Serie D Girone G yesterday. Also worthy to note that Andrea Lombardo did not make the trip with Atalanta to Crotone on Saturday. Atalanta were defeated 2-1. As far as I can tell, Andrea was cover for Andrea Lazzari in the match that he did appear in against Bari.
Winnipeg Fury
Occean to play spoiler ? Start, Valerenga battle for Norwegian title By Alister Doyle OSLO, Oct 24 (Reuters) - Promoted IK Start will have a slight edge over Valerenga when the destiny of the Norwegian championship is decided on Saturday and Rosenborg Trondheim's 13-year reign is ended. Neither of the title chasers are in particularly good form. Oslo club Valerenga have not scored for five matches and Start could only draw 1-1 at rock bottom Bodo Glimt on Sunday. ADVERTISEMENTStart, back in the top division for the first time since 2002, and last season's runners-up Valerenga each have 45 points with one game left. But Start, from the southern town of Kristiansand, have a one-goal better goal difference. "The advantage is now 70-30 in Start's favour," Valerenga coach Kjetil Rekdal told reporters after Sunday's 2-0 defeat at home to Rosenborg, who are seventh in the 14-team league. He said Valerenga, who last won the league in 1984, would have to score several goals in their final match on Saturday against Odd Grenland to have a hope of upsetting Start, who will play Fredrikstad. Valerenga goalkeeper Arni Gautur Arason made a spectacular error on Sunday when he miscued a harmless-looking back pass from defender Thomas Holm into his own goal. SUDDEN DOWNTURN Rosenborg, who suffered a 4-1 drubbing by Real Madrid in the Champions League last week, have recovered in the league after briefly dipping into the relegation zone in a sudden downturn of form this season. "Title for sale cheap," wrote Bertil Valderhaug, sports chief of the Norwegian daily Aftenposten. "Rosenborg are once again Norway's best team...in the meantime, either Valerenga or Start can borrow the gold." "Five games in a row without a goal. 0-6 in goal difference. Two points," wrote Verdens Gang sports commentator Truls Daehli of Valerenga's dismal record since Sept. 13. "Norwegian soccer deserves a champion that can do a bit better than that." Daehli said Start, who last won the title in 1980, had shown more attacking instincts than Valerenga and therefore were a better choice as champions. Norwegian soccer has become more competitive recently with teams earning more money from ticket sales and television rights. Artificial pitches and indoor halls mean that winter training is no longer simply for the richest clubs like Rosenborg.

Daniel
quote:Originally posted by davebarr Dwayne's great in MLS. Always an exciting goal or two that makes the highlite reel, but why is he invisible for the NT? He's far from invisible and scores some scorchers for the Nats (CRC 2004, Guatemala 2004, Korea 2002, etc.) but is known more for shooting way over the net when it would be easier to shoot on net (dates back to OQ 2000), for running himself into corners or trying to always take on a man and losing the ball, for slipping and for generally being the most frustrating player to watch. Maybe this season showed what he can do, but until he does it with us...
Guest Jeffery S.
Aguiar played 90 as Gondomar fell 2-1 to his former team Beira Mar, with whom he went up to top flight 4 or five years ago. The team is mid table after 8 games.
Blue and White Army
Hampton & Richmond Borough 3-1 Hendon No Canuck goals this time around for HRBFC, but Elliott Godfrey had a good match. At 1-0, he shot just wide from a Kelvin McIntosh pass. He also hit the crossbar with a 30-yard drive that bounced away harmlessly.
Guest Stian Stryni
Lars Hirschfeld played the whole match for Tromso, with little to do. Viking had one chance. Stephen Ademolu played a really good match for Tromso, substituted in the 81st min by Karim Essediri. He was tackled by Vikings keeper in the 51st min, outside the box, after a fine run, resulting in a red card for Vikings keeper Basso. Patrice Bernier played the whole match for Tromso, obviously in search for his first goal this season with many good runs, dribling and many shoots off target. sstackho
In English League Cup action - Round of 32: - Radzinski is rested (presumably) as Fulham lose 2-3 to WBA in extra time. - No Simpson to be found as Millwall squeak by Mansfield Town 2-3. A bit odd, since out-of-favour players tend to get time in this competition, and I'm guessing "out-of-favour" is the reason for the disappearance of Simpson, due to lack of any other information. Mansfield are the currently the third-last team in the entire League structure.
