Ian Hume looked very good during practice a few days ago he put away 5 streight volley shots from the 18 yeard box. The source behind this is a young 17 year old polish/australian gk who was in net during the poractice sessions. He said Ian looked impressive. He is the starting keeper for their U18 side. I will get more inside news once he fills me in and I will make sure to post here

Imhof's Bochum drew scoreless away to Kickers Offenbach to go top of

Bundesliga 2, though Daniel was subbed off m. 36 first half. Was he injured?

McKenna's Cottbus can regain the lead if they win on Sunday vs. FC Erzgebirge Aue. Where does that team play, never heard of them?

Neatly embedded in the wooded hills of the western Erzgebirge mountains, the city Aue is situated in a valley at the historical Silberstrasse (a historical road known for silver trade.)

This traditional industrial town in the Aue-Schwarzenberg administrative district is the home for about 19.000 citizens.

Aue - the sporting town in the Erzgebirge mountains

The city is proud of being represented in the national league by the FC Erzgebirge Aue football team.

In the CCC:

- de Vos starts but Peters not even on the bench for Ipswich away to Leeds. Tactical? Injury? Dislike of the town?

- Hume gets the start for Leicester against Bircham and QPR

- Pesch warming the bench, as usual, away to league leaders (and former club) Sheffield United

- Brennan starting for Norwich against Reading

- this time, Simpson makes the bench and Serioux nowhere to be found as Millwall take on Cardiff

In the English League two today, Lincoln City's starting keeper was one of three City players to receive a red card in their game against Torquay. Hopefully this means Simon Rayner will get the start in nets on Tuesday when they play Stockport

Julian De Guzman has started in midfield for Deportivo La Coruna against Real Zaragoza (his first start this year I believe.)

He started in Intertoto vs. MArseille, the game they were robbed by the ref.

Today he was subbed out for Scaloni m. 65, Depor drew away to Zaragoza 1-1.

Lars and Tromsø win again 2 -1 away vs. Lillestrøm

Bernier played 90, Ademolu played 58 and assisted on a Tromso goal. The win puts them 3 points clear of Rosenborg who are in the playoff spot for relegation, though they play tomorrow. A big win for TIL.

Another start for Daniel Fernandes with Paok winning 2-0 at the 72th.

This is a big win for Paok, their first of the season on day 4. Perhaps it is odd that Daniel started considering that they only have an interim coach until Matthaus starts, probably first week of October. Let's see if he also gets the game in the Ukraine in UEFa action this week.

Can't find match reports from C2B, but I did find the results...

Julian Uccello's Sansovino defeated Prato 1-0 on Sunday.

Rocco Placentino's Gualdo lost 2-1 to Gubbio on Sunday. I'm sure Rocco played because Gualdo's website has a photo of Rocco from the match.

In Serie D, David Masciantonio played the entire match as Montereotondo tied Campobasso 1-1 on Sunday. David received a 6 rating.

Surprise news at Paok as Matthaus turns down their offer in the end, saying he wants to continue with the Hungarian national team.

They are off to Donetsk in the Ukraine for their UEFA Cup tie, as must Tromso (Hirschfeld) be on their way to Turkey to take on Galatasaray in an valhalla of Asia Minor.

Both Stalteri and Radzinski have started in the Spurs v Fulham match which is, I believe, the first meeting betwen Canadians in a Premiership game. Spurs lead 1-0 at the half.

And Spurs hold on to win 1-0. Sounds like Stalteri had a decent game with a blocked shot and a near drawn penalty:

When Paul Stalteri did well to block Brian McBride's goalbound shot, Jol's anxiety was illustrated by his numerous trips to the edge of the pitch.

<snip>

Stalteri got forward onto Aaron Lennon's pass and there were screams for a penalty when he went down in the box from Luis Boa Morte's challenge. But TV replays showed the Portuguese winger's tackle was perfectly legitimate, winning the ball.

De Rosario named MLS player of the week

http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Soccer/2005/09/26/1236685-cp.html

SAN JOSE, Calif. (CP) - Canadian Dwayne De Rosario was selected as the Major League Soccer player of the week on Monday.

De Rosario, a midfielder with the San Jose Earthquakes, scored a goal in each half in his club's 2-0 win over the Chicago Fire on Wednesday. He is the only Earthquake to have a multiple-goal game this season. De Rosario followed with a strong performance in Saturday's 1-1 tie with FC Dallas which clinched the Western Conference title for the Earthquakes.

The Toronto native leads the MLS in assists with 12, and is tied for third in the league in game-winning goals with four.

De Rosario is also a fixture on the Canadian international squad with 34 caps.
