As for point of departure, the bus leaves from Brussels North station. But actually, I'll be taking the bus from Leuven, it's more convenient for me as I'm actually in Leuven. There's only one bus going that day, I believe around three. I've never been on Eurolines, but I'm expecting there to be neither full-service bar nor any on-bus food served. Happy Trails! And if you have any other Q.s, just post them. I'll do my best to respond quickly. Andre
juaninho
okay marcl_19,here's the skinny. The good news is that the Bus arrives at Luxembourg train station at 6pm - so here's hoping the match starts later then 7. The bad news is that if you want to catch the bus that leaves on the next day, it leaves at 8am. Ouch! I've booked already, and if you book now you should get a good rate. Seeing that you're in Mons, it makes more sense for you to take the bus from Brussels North rather then from Liege. http://webapp.eurolines.be/eurolines/index_fr.asp
Daniel
I want to know what the schedules are like for Lux-Esch and back. Because I don't want to book a hostel in Lux to be caught out in Esch after the game...

If so, then the train ride is a snappy 22 minutes long. i don't know if the link will work, but here is a link for nmbs (the belgian railway company): http://plannerint.b-rail.be/bin/query.exe/en?ld=IB&L=b-rail&seqnr=7&ident=21.030161.1128452693&OK#focus Last train to luxembourg is at 12 minutes to 12, gee, how synchronous? Again, I think this is the right Esch. And if not, how many 'Eschs' can a such a small country accommodate? Andre
juaninho
quote:Originally posted by Sigma Esch-sur-Alzette is the correct Esch as far as I know. The other Esch is much smaller and is in the Northern part of the country. Right. Bottom left hand side of the country: http://www.lonelyplanet.com/mapshells/europe/luxembourg/luxembourg.htm But why TWO Eschs???
juaninho
quote:Originally posted by Sigma I was told that Esch is a very common name on the French side of the border. Perhaps that explains why there are two Eschs? Maybe ahhh.....

juaninho
Stadium aside, is anybody going to bring some Tifo crap? I'll try and corral some streamers-basically what my budget will allow. Is anyone going to make some signs? It'd be nice if we could organise something.
Blue and White Army
Sigma, have a peek a 1000flags.co.uk ... five quid (including P&P) for 5'x3' flags. They've got Canada, Quebec, Montreal, PEI, Newfoundland, and heaps of others.
juaninho
I haven't booked anything yet, stay wise. But is it necessary to book though? It's Luxembourg. On a weekday. In November no less. I mean, I could understand hotels requiring a booking for business travellers etc., but would youth hostels be a hotbed of traveller activity in November in Lux.? Daniel
Got my return ticket for 40euros: in Lux at 2:30pm, out at 8:30 the next day. What's the word on Esch? And who's staying at that Youth hostel in Lux?
Daniel
I'll probably book at the same hostel. I lost my YHI card, though :S.
juaninho
Just so I'll be recognisable, some say that I strike an uncanny resemblance to this fellow: The crossed eyes don't really attract the ladies, but my, can I put on a perfectly straight hat. Daniel
A train ticket for Lux-Esch seems to be either 1.20 or 4.60 euros. I'm on the verge of reserving for the hostel and remember that check-in is until 11pm (and guaranteed until 7pm).
Saviola7
Sigh. After over a year at BS, I finally broke down and joined. Now I will get even less work done, sheesh Anyway, I'll be going to the match (along with a couple of non-canadian friends). Just to be clear, how sure are we that the match won't sellout? Is there no way to buy tickets ahead of time?
juaninho
Change of venue then? I trust there is some train connection to the town AND hope that the train station is close to the stadium. If all else fails transport-wise post-match, I'm sure Daniel can call the 'Nightrider': http://www.nightrider.lu/
Daniel
I've been to Salzburg which is a city of 120,000 and I could walk easily from one end to the other. I don't think we'll have trouble getting to the stadium . And, hell, we could probably walk from Lux, 5km!
juaninho
Maybe some meeting point and time should be arranged. If everything goes to plan bus-wise, I should arrive at 6:15 pm. I think either a bus or train station are the most logical meeting areas.
