Daniel
I'm in Paris, and I'll probably go, but I'd be curious if any other Vs are going and how they are getting there (in case we can work out travel plans).
Guest Can. in UK
I am very tempted to go... but I am out of holidays!! I was just in Luxembourg last week. The train from London took 6hrs in total (via Brussels - 59£). It's very simple. A Eurostar ticket is valid anywhere within Belgium so you can get an extension from Brussels to Arlon (on the Luxembourg border) for free. From there, it's an additional 6 Euro for a return ticket from Luxembourg. Otherwise, I've looked into flights and it seems the cheapest flight is via LuxAir (from London City Airport). I asked people about the game while I was there and they said there would be "absolutely no problems" getting tickets. The stadium looks like a dump and nobody seems to go to the games. The city, however, is very pretty and full of ex-pats from around the world.
Guest Jeffery S.
What are the closest airport options, leaving aside the country itself, where I see no cheap flights to.
marcl_19
Right now im living right next door in belgium, but im not sure if i'll still be around by the time the game rolls around. Guest Ed
quote:Originally posted by Sigma ........ JS, Metz looks close to Luxembourg, but I'm not sure if they have an airport. They used to. I landed there in December 1966. Actually that was a town outside Metz. I doubt it is maintained now. You might want to check flights to Zweibruecken Germany in the Saar valley. Not far at all from Trier / Luxemburg, although you'd need a rental car. It's a small regional airport that some charters use. Manchester United landed there a few years ago. Wear a Canuck flag on your lapel and you'll be treated royally around there.

Canuck in Boston
I think I will be there(90%). I am in The Netherlands at that time and have asked for a day off. I plan on taking a train from Amsterdam to Brussels, meeting a couple of colleagues from the Ardenne, then driving to Esch from there.

Andrew W
For what it's worth here's the link to the Luxembourg Youth Hostels. I would love to be going, but not this time unfortunately. I've stayed at the hostel in Lux City and the one in Lultzhausen. Not bad places at all. Unfortunately it seems the Lux City one is the closest HI affiliated hostel to Esch. Enjoy the game and someone take a digital and post some shots. Hostels link
Daniel
Looks like I can get a return train ticket from Paris for 40 euros. I'll be getting that done in the coming week, with my hostel booking. What time's the game at?
juaninho
When is it exactly? I might be able to cobble a few sheckles together to go. But if it's a weekday, that may put a damper on the train option for me from Brussels etc. Maybe Eurolines is worth a go, but who knows. But again a weekday.....ouch. Early November is it? juaninho
It looks like I may go, as it's only a 3 hour jaunt on Eurolines coach from Brussels that arrives at 6 pm. If I book soon enough in advance, I can get the sexy price of 12 Euro return. Ahhhhh Eurolines...... transportation of choice for the upwardly mobile drifter.
