trueviking
i just bought tickets for the tottenham/fulham match on the 26th at white hart lane....if both stalteri and radzinski play would this be a first for canadian soccer?...if two canadians have faced off in the premiership before, who were the players and when? i just checked and brennan did not play against radz last year. thanks in advance, if anyone has an answer... RS
I'm pretty sure Yallop and Forrest played together at Ipswich quite frequently, but that doesnt really count as 'facing off against each other'.

trueviking
you are right, they played together for 3 years in the EPL (92-95) thanks.

beachesl
Carl Valentine (West Bromich Albion 84-86, 44 matches, 6 goa;ls) MAY have played against Frank Yallop (Ipswich Town, 83-96) in the 80's in the old top First Division. But, I think that this will definitely the first time, if they both play, that two Canadians have faced each other in the Premiership.

Gian-Luca
I might be making that match as well (I'll be in the UK at the time) but it seems more likely now that I'll be catching the Charlton-Tottenham game the following Saturday. RealGooner
Charlton-Spurs should be a good derby. Both teams are on the up and have alot to play for.
Cheeta
Nice. Have fun. Can't imagine either not playing unless some injury creeps in. (Knock on wood).
canadiankick97
Buy lots of jerseys, they are cheap over there. I bought 7 for no more than 150 dollars Canadian.
trueviking
a few pics from the game....it was great to see at the final whistle, the first thing stalteri and radz did was immediately grab each other in a full bear hug...warmed my canadian heart. stalteri spent a lot of time defending against him....i thought he played well, but a few of the tottenham fans i spoke with thought he might make a better hockey player. i couldnt believe the rules at the game....no drinking or smoking within view of the pitch....no photographs...no standing up....they kept flashing signs saying if you stand up you will lose your seat. after the half, the guy beside me snuck in a beer....ten minutes later, he was spotted by the eye in the sky (you can see it in the photo)....with a dozen guys watching the crowd through binoculars....3 police and 2 security guards with earpieces stormed the row and hauled him away....i could hear them being directed by the people in the eye in the sky....it was serious. i dont know if all premiership stadiums are like that, but i was surprised....the concessions area only opened at half time and before the game. great atmosphere in the sold out stadium though...36 000. sorry my photos are not better, but i had to sneak them for fear of getting caught...i got warned once.....there was not enough light as well, so a few are blurry i knew radz was short, but i didnt know he was that short... just after their congratulatory embrace after the game.... Blue and White Army
Nice pics. Most of the Premiership grounds, and even many of the League grounds, are that anal with their rules. I went to a couple Fulham matches soon after arriving here in England, but found the experience much too "plastic". I only bother with non-League football now, as Sigma can attest to. Just a few bob to get in, you can sit or stand where you like, the champion isn't determined three weeks into the season, etc etc.
matthew
That's crazy. That is almost exactly where I saw at WHL. I was maybe two or three rows higher up. It was a nothing friendly with DC United and Spurs played a bunch of 'legends' and Lars. So they were more relaxed about the photographs, but I was dying to get a bite (it took me forever to get up there and get into the ground, but that was probably just poor planning on my part) and had no luck just before kickoff. The no standing rule is crazy. I've never heard that. They definitely were standing in the main end stand (the one to your left IIRC). cheers, matthew
trueviking
yeah, they were standing in that section until about mid way through the first half, when a dozen security guards moved in and cracked down....whenever the ball came near, people would stand up, but there was always a panic to sit right back down within a few seconds...it was bizarre.
