42nd Annual Canadian/American- Croatian Soccer Tournament

NOTE: MANY CPSL PLAYERS FROM VARIOUS TEAMS HAVE BEEN CALLED ON TO PLAY FOR CROATIAN TEAMS. THIS IS AN EXCELLENT WELL ORGANIZED TOURNAMENT HELD OVER LABOUR DAY WEEKEND. CHICAGO ADRIA HAS WON IT LAST YEAR. OUR VERY OWN TORONTO CROATIA FROM THE CPSL IS ALSO COMPETING. IF YOU ENJOY DRINKING, THE SUN AND SOCCER ITS A GREAT WAY TO SPEND THE WEEKEND. HUGE AMOUNTS OF PEOPLE TURN OUT AND BUS LOADS OF CROATIAN AMERICAN TEAMS ARE PARTICIPATING.

Friday, September 2

This year, there will be no "official" tournament Friday night opening dance. However, there will still be a place for everyone to get together to begin celebrating the opening of tournament weekend. Join PLAVI DIM and everyone else that will be partying it up @ Cro Club in Mississauga.

Saturday, September 3

As always, the tournament will begin early Saturday morning with its round robin portion. This year promises to be exciting with the group of death including both Toronto Croatia, Cleveland Croatia, Velebit and CBP Chicago, which were all legitimate favourites to win it all this year. Come out to the Centar in Norval early and enjoy the great soccer.

Hrvatska will be playing a WC qualifier on this day against Iceland @ 2:00 local time. There have been rumours that Norval might be showing the game but these are just rumours. If you wish to watch the games, there are a number of bars around the area that will be airing it live.

After a long time of basking in the sun, it's time to continue the party at St. John's Lithuanian Hall on Stavebank Road, Mississauga, where the entertainment will be provided by NOCNI RAJ. Apparently, we will be allowed in there until 3 a.m., so the party will continue all night long.

Sunday, September 4

The tournament wraps up today with the final and 3rd place game also to be held at the Centar in Norval. These games are always very competitve matches and are quite entertaining.

The awards ceremony/banquet/closing dance will be held tonight at St. John's Lithuanian Hall in Mississauga, with entertainment by NOCNI RAJ. Once again, we will be allowed to party until 3 a.m., so make sure you are well rested when you attend.

There is also a Cro Club dance on Sunday featuring DRUGA NOC. As is tradition, most people head over to Cro Club at around 1 a.m. once Lithuanian Hall kicks everyone out, however, with this 3 a.m. promise, it's anyone's guess what will happen.
