Guidelines for this thread

[*]In this thread post match updates on all Canadians abroad for August 26 - September 1, 2005.

[*]If you find updates posted in some other thread or on the other Voyageurs forum then post them here as well, but be sure to credit the original poster.

[*]If there is news that is particularly significant (eg. someone scores a big goal, someone gets injured, etc.) then feel free to begin a new thread on that topic in order to draw greater attention or start a discussion, but also post that news here.

[*]Some comments on news posted in this thread are okay, but let's not let this thread go off into a long discussion. If the news already appears in another thread (as per the previous bullet) then post your comments in that other thread, otherwise if you want to say something significant or if it is likely to generate replies then begin a new thread.

Is there no "Canucks in Germany" threads this year? It was always amazing how one man followed the German league so closely.

They would just get in the way of all the great debates in this forum.

That aside, there are no Canucks in Germany anymore (at the top level anyway).

I have done some updates on bigsoccer but don't feel like contributing to this forum much these days.

Millwall fans were saying Josh Simpson was the best player on the field today.

Charlotte vs. Western Mass[achusetts] (Kyle Fletcher)

Kyle Fletcher played the whole match, as captain I believe, which ended 2-2 AET. Fletcher took the first PK and scored, but Charlotte ultimately prevailed 5-4 to claim the USL D2 championship.

It seems like OO is scoring with some consistency these days, just too bad he hasn't been called for the Spain game. Some Odd Grenland fans said on their forum that OO has been playing very well lately and that he hasn't signed a contract yet, so they don't know what will happen with him but a fan told me that he was good enough for bigger thing.

Maybe he'll be there for Luxenbourg

It is reported in the Neil Davidson article that OO will be there in Luxembourg. I was just saying that it was too bad he won't be there in spain since he's scoring at least a goal a week for 4-5 week in a row. He had an average GC but seem to have found his scoring touch. Good for him!

Hirschfeld's under the gun again, as Esbjerg have appealed the FIFA decision regarding his being registered for the first meeting of the two clubs.

TIL played today and salvaged a point ten minutes before full time.

Incidentally, Gerba's goal was an "elegant bicycle kick" (from Gif Sundsvall website)

Stathis Kappos didnt feature in a 3-1 win for his team Akratitos against Iraklis. Kappos is till relatively young (25), do u think if he got regular playing time yallop would select him. I notice that hes a right back so that would let Stalteri move to midfield. Id think that a player in The greek first division who gets regular pt is better then a usl player, or someone who isnt even familiar with the position.

Guest Jeffery S.

Fernandes on the bench for Paok, who fall to XAnthi 1-0, on a keeper error it seems.

Aguiar not dressed for Penafiel this weekend, possibly injured. They lost their 2nd of the season.

Imhof played a full 90 min at right back for Bochum on Friday as they tied Ahlen 2-2. His Kicker rating was listed as a 4.0

Nsaliwa played his usual 90 min on Sunday in Central defence as Saarbrucken continued its weak start to the season with a 3-0 loss. Nsaliwa´s Kicker rating was still a respectable 3.5 as all three goals were scored from the right side (Saarbrucken´s left).

McKenna played 90 on Sunday as well for Cottbus as they lost to Paderhorn 2-1. It seems McKenna did not have a great game as Kicker gives him a dismal 5.0 rating.

Interestingly, I saw San Jose (with De Rosario and Onstadt) playing against LA in MLS after midnight here in Brazil which confirms two notions for me.

One. Brazilians will watch anything that involves kicking a round ball.

Two. Brazilians probably get to see more of our national team players in action with their clubs than we do (Saw Stalteri playing with Bremen in May 2004 when I was here)

In Bank Holiday action in the UK, Millwall lose yet again, this time away to high-flying Luton 2-1. Both Canucks start on the bench, with Serioux coming on in the 77th (one minute before Luton take the lead) and Simpson coming on in the 85th.

Jaime Peters has come on for Ipswich in the 51st minute, after they are already down 0-3 at home against Preston NE. Match still in progress...
