Winnipeg Fury
The man that took Grande to Norway is moving on: Hodgson to coach Finland from August next year HELSINKI, Aug 19 (Reuters) - Former Blackburn Rovers, Inter Milan and Switzerland coach Roy Hodgson signed a contract on Friday to become the coach of Finland's national team in just under a year's time, the Finnish football association said. Hodgson, who is currently at Norway's Viking Stavanger, will take over from interim coach Jyrki Heliskoski on August 1, 2006 as Finland start their qualifying campaign for the European championship in 2008 in Austria and Switzerland. Heliskoski was appointed last month for the rest of the 2006 World Cup qualifiers after Antti Muurinen, in charge since 2000, was sacked when hopes of reaching the finals were virtually ended in a 4-0 home defeat by the Netherlands. The Finns beat Macedonia 3-0 on Wednesday but still trail the pace-setting Dutch by 10 points in Group 1 qualifying. Hodgson, 58, took Switzerland to the 1994 World Cup finals in the U.S. where they reached the second round and to their first appearance in a European championship at Euro '96. youllneverwalkalone
According to BBC Sport: Brennan is in the starting 11 for Norwich against Southampton. Stalteri, Radzinski, Hume, Bircham and Simpson will also start, with Serioux, Peters, & Peschisolido on the pine. Looks like a good day for the Canucks in England. loyola
Olivier Occean just scored and Odd is leading Molde 1-0 in the 24th in the NM Cupen. Good to see OO scoring with some consistency lately.

Currently 4-0 down at the half. Yowza. And Serioux on for Simpson at the half.

From the BBC: 50:11 Goal kick taken long by Adrian Serioux (Millwall). Guess who gets a half between the pipes?
loyola
Nice to see Serioux getting some minutes at the GK position.........but Milwall should sign Greg Sutton in a hurry, I think he's slightly better than Serioux.
sstackho
Poor Millwall. Oops, what did I just say. I mean, Poor Simpson and Serioux. I see this on a messageboard, so it doesn't sound like Serioux is in goal: "re: theo in goal! Mark Phillips in goal"
El Hombre
Phillips went in right after the red card in the first half, and it looks like Serioux started the second half in net. He's taken all the goal kicks and any free kicks in their half.
sstackho
More messageboard posts state that Phillips is in goal. Perhaps Serioux is on kicking duty. Millwall fans seem right pissed at the changes over the summer. I'm not sure if there was a planned protest, but I think they had fewer than 7,000 for their home opener, but I don't know what they usually get. It was lucky for Simpson and Serioux to avoid the chop - but perhaps they are decent value for their wages.
beachesl
Stalteri plays 90 as Tottenham beat Middlesbro 2-1 at home. No word on how Paul did, but the 63 to 37 % possession looks like he was doing his job strippubng the ball from Boro and getting the ball up to the more forward players. The Spurs may start to live up to promise this year and threaten for the 4th spot. The other Canuck in the Premiership, Radz, is subbed out at 81 (with McBride, who scored) in Fulham's 2-1 defeat away to Blackburn. Hopefully the pundits are right and Fulham is going down. beachesl
In the "Championship" (cough, cough): Bircham plays the first 66' as QPR go down away to Coventry. Pesch doesn't start (can't find subs, but appears not to have been put on, as Tuguay brought on)) in Derby's 2-1 home victory over Cardiff. De Vos still off on injury and Peters comes on in 77' (after Ipswich finished scoring) in Ipswich's 2-1 home vitory over Sheffield Wednesday. Brennan starts and palys 90 as Norwich lose 1-0 away to Southmpton in a game Canaries appear to have dominated in the stats . As reported, Millwall slammed 5-0 away to Reading, Milwall get red card, but it's not by Serioux. Serioux replaces (3rd substitution by woeful Lions) starting Simpson at 45', after Reading scores 4 straight goals in first half.
beachesl
In Scotland, Rhiann Dodds stays on bench as his Kilmarnoch draw Inverness 2-2 away.

Blue and White Army
Hampton & Richmond Borough 2 Walton & Hersham 0 Jon Henry-Hayden came on as a late substitute and set up Hampton's second goal. Elliott Godfrey seems to have played the entire match for Hampton, but apparently had a stinker. One supporter said that Godfrey had an "...inability to hold onto the ball and a lack of discipline which will come home to roost later in the season." canuck-fan
It seems that Serioux did play goal in the second half of the Millwall-Reading match. From the commments on the Millwall messageboards I've seen he played remarkably well, making two excellent saves and only allowing one goal (which apparently wasn't his fault). His kicking and distribution was also noted to be better than Millwall's regular keeper. Maybe Yallop should consider Adrian in goal for the friendlies against Spain or Luxembourg?? :-)

MikeD
So does this mean all the Sutton HATERZ are now going to rate Serioux ahead of him? Seriously, a poster on the HOF message board praised Serioux's performance in goal and mentioned "all this from someone who wants to leave" in reference to Serioux. I don't see why Serioux would want to leave Millwall, unless he's fed up with the racist fans at that club. He gets a reasonable amount of playing time, so I don't imagine that's the reason. MikeD
Hume started and was subbed off after 66 minutes in Tranmere's 2-0 loss to Brentford. Stalteri went the distance in Spurs' 2-0 win over Boro. Up you Spurs! Hastings is injured and therefore didn't play for Inverness CT. He'd started every match this season for them until his injury in their last match. Gian-Luca
I'd be surprised if Serioux does actually want to leave. Him playing goal though is awesome to hear!
