drfan23
Does he have a future with the Canadian mens national team. I know its been a while since he has been called up but he is only 23, and seems to be a half decent player. He has been training with the Hannover 96 team, but I think he still plays for their reserves.
MikeD
I think he's a talented young player. The main problem is that he's a right midfielder and we're pretty deep at that position with Stalteri in front of him and Jaime Peters coming along. Patrice Bernier played right mid at the Gold Cup, but I think he played himself out of that position (for now) with his poor offensive performance. I rate his defensive skills highly, so I think Bernier should be a right back. In the meantime, Canizalez may be a guy we should look at as cover for Stalteri, since Peters is at least a year or two away from being ready to start. Gian-Luca
MC2 is actually a left midfielder, or has been in the past. I think he can play either position, as well as striker.

drfan23
So I take it once he cracks the Hannover 96 first team, he will have a future with the mens national team.

I think he can play either position, as well as striker. Didn't realize MC2 could play on either wing. I seem to remember him playing on the right side for the U-20s (I thought Klukowski was on the left on that team), and I well remember Canizalez streaking in from the right and blasting in a goal in the Libya friendly in 2003. I can't remember any instances of MC2 playing on the left, but the ability to play either wing certainly adds to his versatility as a depth player. I also think our starting 11 will be easier to crack on the left wing than on the right once Peters matures into a full-fledged starter and makes that position his own. Gian-Luca
MC2 played on the left side of midfield for his only two national team starts (against the US & against Cuba in the Gold Cup) while he also played on the left coming on as a sub against Costa Rica in the same 2003 Gold Cup. For the U20's he always played on the left - we went with a 3-5-2 for the 2001 team, MC2 on the wide left, Klukowski, De Guzman & Atiba in the middle and Chris Williams (now the Lynx) on the right. Things changed a bit when they brought in Dunfield for the 2001 final tourney, but MC2 stayed on the left until he was suspended for the final game after picking up a yellow against Iraq & Germany. I think the Libya match was his only time on the right for us, but he's also been played as a striker with the 2004 Olympic team.
