Calgary Boomer
I have been such a hard core follower of Canada's National Team over the years...it's a blind love affair. But watching that game truly made me wish I was born in England. The style of play in CONCACAF is SO NOT fluid with constant starts and stops for niggly fouls...and errand passes that run long or out of bounds...it really is hard to watch. Then throw in the worst commentator in the history of soccer Gerry Dobson and it's just that much more depressing. I'm sure Gerry's a nice guy...but he's HOPELESS as a commentator. Craig has some great insight, but it sounded like the match was putting him to sleep last night. They just sound awkward together. I kept hoping Paul Dolan would hop off the bench and get in the booth! Will we ever get out of soccer's 3rd world?
Winnipeg Fury
The first half was good, but the second half was a bit of a mess.
Breakwood
Meh I dont mind Dobson, hell it could be worse we could have Max Bretos or Christian Miles or some of the other Fox Sports World guys comentating.

RJB
I disagree. I think that Dobson is a bright light when it comes to Canadian soccer announcers. He'll surely be the first to admit that he neesd improvement, but I think he is very knowledgeable about the game, and does a good job, Thursday being no different. As for Forrest, he is fair and insightful. He's not afraid to critisize Canadian players, and gives praise where it is due. In fact, that can be said about both of them. cfof
Keep in mind that when we have a friendly outside our own borders, they're chained up in the studio watching the match on TV like the rest of us. All-in-all, I'm pleased with the job they've been doing.
lefoot
dobson is horrible...i would take max bretos or any of the fox guys over him....they at least do a decent job of imitating the flavour of latin american football. gerry is too nasal and boring...stick to the bowling tour...or maybe he needs a few drinks before he gets on the mic... They do not do a decent job of imitating latinos. Its horrible to listen to them while watching the game. I cant listen to them when I wanna watch my Ligue 1 action cause the can't pronounce the names of the teams[V]

That is a terrible combination. db
groovee99
I agree that Gerry Dobson lacks soccer heart and really lacks understanding of the game. It is very weak play-by-play commentating that is almost painful at times to listen to. I would highly recommend Sportsnet finding someone else for the soccer role that Gerry is currently doing, especially with WC2006 coming up very soon. Craig Forrest is excellent. Thank goodness that Sportsnet has Craig and not Carl Fletcher or Jason DeVos!
strobe_z
I think they should let Gene Principe do the play. He did a teriffic job during the Finland match a while back, and I think he's quite knowledgable about the game too.

BearcatSA
Max Bretos is w*nking poser and pretentious prat. When Di Canio was with the Hammers, Bretos' fake Cockney accent to describe the Italian's goals was an absolute embarrassment!
