Daniel Fernandes and Paok started training yesterday, Canada Day, in Salonica. They start their season in August away to Xanthi.

The team has signed a Greek international under 19 keeper recently, so the team now has their habitual 33 year old starter -Torougolou- as well as Daniel who is almost 22, and a couple other younger ones. Looks like the club policy is to sign young prospects for keeper and see which ones will come to the fore, while others are dropped if they are not up to par.

Which means that this year we may see Fernandes starting more and more -but not regular yet- and one of the other younger keepers even sitting on the bench as sub, in a transition into next season where Daniel might be given the starter role.

In swedish Superettan yesterday Tyler Hughes' Öster (Hughes playing 90) defeated Stephen Ademolu's Trelleborg 3-2 in a tight game. Ademolu, back from injury, played 90 and scored the 1-1 equalizer. Close to the halfway mark (14 of 30 matches played) both teams are still serious contenders for promotion.

Boden (Stamatopoulos) lost 2-1 at home against up til then winless Mjällby, very disappointing result. Boden still above the relegation line, but than might change before this round is completed.

One of the local dailies carries a big interview with Kenny Stamatopoulos. His goalkeeping has more than once kept Boden from defeat and the paper thinks he's managed to replace last year's success goalkeeper Lee Baxter (who went to swedish champions Malmö FF). Kenny himself says he's looking at this season with Boden as an opportunity to impress and get to return to the swedish premier league.
