Good for her, I was a little upset that she stayed out of the 2004 U-19 World Championships to play for Notre Dame but I see it worked out for her, Congratulations to Katie! You have my vote.

Apparently a pretty good golfer too...

But it was a soccer player and an X-Gamer that stole the show. Katie Thorlakson, ESPY nominee for Female College Athlete of the Year, drove the green on the uphill No. 1 hole on the "Shadow" course, while BMX megastar Dave Mirra led his group to a 20-under finish.

Hey-

At first, I was a little upset when I heard that Katie had decided to stay out of the 2004 U-19 World Championships, etc. However, I do believe that the "magic formula" to improve your game consists of two components : 1) motivation/passion and 2) high-level games.

To me, playing for Notre-Dame and playing at the U-19 WC are two different but equally rewarding experiences, considering the great quality and quantity of soccer they "provide".
