highburygooner
from today's observer... Birmingham boss Steve Bruce has confirmed he wants Newcastle bad boy Lee Bowyer: "We have three or four irons in the fire and Bowyer is a player I admire. I like him a lot - we'll see what develops." Bruce is also eyeing Helsingborg star ATIBA HUTCHINSON... good news, i'd say.
Stu
Fantastic news IMO:D Canadian midfielder Atiba Hutchinson has claimed Birmingham are keen on his signature. The 22-year-old has attracted the interest of a host of clubs after impressing with Swedish outfit Helsingborgs. Hutchinson has admitted he is flattered to be linked with Birmingham and revealed he would be keen on playing in England. "The Premier League is one of the best leagues in the world and I am delighted that Birmingham want to sign me," said Hutchinson.

Loud Mouth Soup
I'd be wary. Unless he makes a dramatic impact if he does move, I don't see Atiba dislodging anyone from the Birmingham midfield any time soon.
Cheeta
I still can't believe my luck these days. Stalteri's entrance into the Prem. is going to be with 'Spurs. JDV dosen't even make the Prem. this year. Brennan's Norwich take him along with the drop. And now poor, innocent, naive Hutch is being woo'd towards St. Andrews? I mean what's next? Another year at Tranmere for Hume and Radz get's sold to Rangers? What the Hell's wrong with O'Leary? Save the boy! If he's for Birmingham he should be made to set up shop at Villa Park. It would be the christian thing to do.

Loud Mouth Soup
First team midfielders now at Brum (all): Jermaine Pennant, Darren Anderton, Muzzy Izzet, Stephen Clemence, David Dunn, Stan Lazaridis, Mehdi Nafti, Julian Gray, Damien Johnson. And Carter's move is not a done deal yet: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/b/birmingham_city/4085304.stm Still think it might not be best for Atiba to go there, if the rumour's true. Gian-Luca
I hope he goes & makes the first team, as it would be great for the profile of the Canadian team to have more players playing regularly in the EPL.
highburygooner
ditto the above comments about clemence and sick note. pennant (when not in prison) and laziridis are wingers. dunn, injury prone, hasn't done anything too special since the transfer from blackburn. izzet, also often injured is nothing like the sneaky force he was a few seasons ago when he was getting called up to play for turkey. julian grey has bounced around from palace to charlton and leeds, back to palace and then (following bruce) to birmingham since not cutting it at arsenal. i should hope atiba feels he can compete with this midfield should the move materialise... Timotas
I agree with everything stated above. Atiba moving to Birmingham is the move I think that most of us are waiting for... the move that will spark his bright future... now only for Humey to get some real interest. We need some action to happen, like Hume, Atiba, Occean (well Odd is fine for him now because he's just getting established, but in a couple of years), etc. to all get picked up by bigger clubs. shaku_bert
I'm not questioning the authenticity of the rumour, but I just can't a website that actually links attiba to birmingham. All the articles I see talk about Bowyer and a host of other players. But no Attiba. Still the fact that Pesch's wife is the chairperson (I think), lends credence to the rumour. Anyhow, if its true, I think it would good to see him go there. Even if he doesn't play every week, he will still develop in the reserves (and probably make a pot of dough). I sort of remember him as being a bit skinny. I hope he's tough enough to play in the prem. whoops, here is the edit: I looked at the observer, and I could not find the quote (On-line at least). That's not to say I'm not "challenged" and can't see for looking.
Timotas
well.. here are a bunch of website linking him to birmingham (really recent news), trouble is that they're all in swedish, etc. http://www.expressen.se/index.jsp?a=298071 http://www.smp.se/secure_login.php?debug=1&args=,102;0;0;0&redirectUrl=L2FydGljbGUucGhwP2FyZ3M9NTQxODQzJTJDMTAyJTNCMCUzQjAlM0Iw http://www.sportal.nu/index.cfm?objectId=605F1773-AEA8-0672-324D0553E47708D7 http://www.fotbolldirekt.com/index.cfm?curPage=1 http://www.dn.se/DNet/jsp/polopoly.jsp?d=647&a=425943 http://hd.se/senastenytt/sporten/detalj.shtml?id=36351
shaku_bert
thanks Timotas! Once again, I must remark on how dingy I am! Of course, I can't read any of the articles, but one can get the gist! Go Atiba! Weird how most of the British media yap about everyone (Greeks Finns) joining Brum except a Canadian. Oh crap, forget that I mentioned the UK media! heeehee Speaking of media, the winnipeg free press had nothing about the game today. Hopefully on Monday, they'll at least ackowledge that Canada plays soccer.
juaninho
Somewhat surprised no Ipswich interest, but the transfer window is just freshly opened, so who knows. But all in all, great news if Atiba secures a spot with a stable EPL side, be it Birmingham or someone else.
canso
Not sure I consider Birningham a stable EPL side. Still look likely relegation candidates to me, and what kind of manager signs Gronkjear and Heskey and lets Savage go? Stable financially sure, there's a lot of money in pornography, but it's still dirty money. (I'm taking the moral high ground here. Just don't ask about those bookmarks.) Yes porno does provide stability, oddly enough. But don't you think the injury loss of 20 plus goal scorer Forsell had a negative impact on Birmingham's EPL fortunes? Savage wanted to leave, so what could Steve Bruce do? Besides, it's dust for brains Savage anyway. Heskey isn't horrible, but still does leave one wanting for a better solution. Gronkjear, clearly a mistake. Bruce will, pending porno impresario Gold's continued interest in BCFC of course, always have a decent transfer kitty to make signings. I just think that Birmingham had some really unfortunate injuries that hurt their team this past season.

An Observer
From the Sport Network... Blues Want Canada Star By Aydan Anderson - June 14 2005 Canadian midfielder Atiba Hutchinson has told the media that Birmingham manager Steve Bruce has expressed an interest in signing him. Hutchinson currently plays for Swedish side Helsingborg and would welcome a move to the Premiership. Canadian midfielder Atiba Hutchinson has revealed that Birmingham City are one of the clubs interested in signing him. The 22 year old attacking midfielder told the local press that he would love a move to the English Premier League and that he is delighted that Birmingham want to sign him. "The Premier League is one of the best leagues in the world and I am delighted that Birmingham want to sign me." said Hutchinson. Daniel
He's an attacking mid now??? You know that our 2007-2008 mid is Hume-Tiba-JDG... We just need to find that left winger .

Daniel
Well, he was a midfield general until the WYC03 and then he played d-mid at Helsingborg and RB with Canada. But from what I've seen with him since his starts, he seems like one of the smoothest Canadian player and cut out to be our central guy. Then again, he's played the worst game I've even seen from a Canadian player (including Corazzin, including the 2003 US friendly) in Wales in that position. Although it was probably just a bad day. canso
It takes a while to learn that position, but he is smooth and smart and stylish and could be a... what the!?!? did Steve Bruce actually say he admires Lee Bowyer?!?! He likes him a lot?! Oh no, don't go Attiba. The porn king, sicknote and now a rat faced lying weasel. You don't wanna mix with that crowd.
