Also note that he is linked with Norwich now as well.

Hume and Taylor in Four-Four-Two Team of the Year

Honoured!By Deadly Submarine - May 29 2005

Monthly football publication Four-Four-Two has just announced its annual teams of the year and the League One team sees a further honour for right-back Ryan Taylor and also acknowledgement of the efforts of Rovers top-scorer Iain Hume. The pair join three players from Luton and two from Hull.

The announcement is a further honour for Ryan Taylor who recently featured in the Official Football League Team of the Year for League One which was voted for by the players of the division. Top-scorer Iain Hume did not feature in the Football League team but has now featured in the team from the magazine.

Ryan Taylor was recently voted Total Tranmere’s Young Player Season by the readers of this site. His appearance in two teams of the year as well, makes the interest of many clubs elsewhere justified. Taylor has recently been linked with a move to both of Tranmere’s Merseyside neighbours Liverpool and Everton as well as Manchester City.

Hume has been linked with moves to Premiership side Norwich City and Championship sides Ipswich Town and Coventry City. Interestingly Hume is not included in the team as a striker where he has played for Tranmere all season. That honour goes to Swindon’s Sam Parkin and Leroy Lita of Bristol City.

The Four-Four-Two team also saw former Rovers assistant Mike Newell named as manager of the year for leading his Luton side to the Championship as winners of League One.

The full team is as follows:

Manager – Mike Newell (Luton)

Marlon Beresford (Luton)

Ryan Taylor (Tranmere)

Curtis Davies (Luton)

Nathan Clarke (Huddersfield)

Paul Heckingbottom (Sheff Wed)

Iain Hume (Tranmere)

Nick Barmby (Hull)

Ahmet Brkovic (Luton)

Stuart Elliott (Hull)

Sam Parkin (Swindon)

Leroy Lita (Bristol City)
