canso
Charowski and Lalli have returned, two guys that were not in the qualifying tournament.
El Hombre
Was hoping to see Edgar on that list, but I guess not. Would Newcastle keep him away from the camp with just one game left on their schedule?
Canuck Oranje
Newcastle U-18's have a tournament coming up in Germany. Might be the end of this week but not sure. quote:Originally posted by El Hombre Was hoping to see Edgar on that list, but I guess not. canso
Marcel DeJong is a key player not there, presumably he's busy as well?
The Beaver
Yes, and Ledgerwood is missing. I'm sure all of these guys will be free just as soon as their seasons wind up. As for Edgar, I was hoping he'd come into the line up sooner so that he could get a feel for the team. Still, if Mitchell calls him--along with the others--as soon as they are free, I'll be happy. We need the whole team together asap!! I imagine that heading into the end of May/ early June we'll see Mitchell's full line-up gathered and practicing together. If we can get 3 or 4 games under out belt with the full squad, we should be okay.
Guest Ed
The four players from the CONCACAF qualifying squad who are not on this list: 1. Nik Ledgerwood - playing full time with his 1860 Muenchen amateur team, who are active until late May in the Regional League South. The team itself is fighting to stay up in the German 3rd tier (they are by no means safe from relegation) plus Nik has a good chance to impress for a shot this summer at the full Bundesliga 2 (they may yet be a promoted team to Bundesliga 1) team. 2. Marcel de Jong - playing full time with his Dutch tier 2 side. 3. Julian Uccello - ??? 4. Mike D'Agostino - ??? The first two are understandable omissions. Any thoughts on Uccello and D'Agostino? Ivan
Notice Franco Lalli has moved to Cavese, the same team Rocco Placentino plays for. Seems like a good jump for him, seventh tier to fourth.

Massive Attack
Here's is the relevant portion from Andrew W.'s link: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Under-20 News: Dale Mitchell's under-20 team is in camp in New Orleans, preparing for this summer's World Youth Championship in the Netherlands. The Canadians play Honduras on Friday before travelling to Blaine, Minn., to take on the U.S. on May 18. The camp concludes May 21. The Canadians leave a week later for Europe. Mitchell will be without a half-dozen players who are with overseas clubs, electing not to press the issue with the Dutch tournament around the corner. Those not at the U.S. camp include goalkeeper Robert Giacomi (Glasgow Rangers, Scotland), defenders David Edgar (Newcastle, England) and Nikolas Ledgerwood (1860 Munich, Germany), midfielder Marcel de Jong (Helmond Sport, the Netherlands), and forwards Andrea Lombardo (Atalanta, Italy) and Julian Ucello (Savona Calcio, Italy). Forward Gianluca Zavarise (Calcio Montebelluna, Italy) has not been called up because of injury while Mitchell elected not to recall forward Mike D'Agostino (University of Kentucky). Both were at the last camp in Germany, although Zavarise arrived there carrying the injury and was sent home early. Forward Cam Wilson (Bristol City, England) returns to the fold after recovering from an ankle injury of his own. Mitchell has also summoned defender Mathew Britner (Brown University), midfielder Tomasz Charowski (Duke) and forward Franco Lalli (Cavese Calcio, Italy). ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In the case of Julian Uccello, his team, Savona, has one more game left. I'm pretty sure that this game is meaningless.
