Mike Klukowski came on in the 74th minute as Brugge tied Mons 0-0 in Belgium today. It appears that he played central defence.

Marcel De Jong was subbed out in the 56th minute today as Helmond Sport lost 1-0 to FC Zwolle in the Gouden Gids Divisie (Dutch second tier). Marcel played in the front three of a 4-3-3 formation.

Derby 3-1 Preston

Goals from Inigo Idiakez, Tommy Smith and Paul Peschisolido helped Derby seal a play-off place and leap-frog above North End into fourth spot.

Idiakez gave the Rams the lead with a quick free-kick and Smith made it 2-0 after good work from Jeff Kenna.

Patrick Agyemang's close range finish gave Preston hope with 21 minutes left.

But Peschisolido's last-gasp goal sealed Derby's win and the clubs will meet again at Deepdale next week in the first leg of their play-off semi-final.

Derby had needed a point to be sure of a place in the top six but ended up taking all three.

CHAMPIONSHIP PLAY-OFFS

First leg

Saturday 14 May (1215 BST)

or Sunday 15 May (1200 BST)

Second leg

Wednesday 18 May (1945 BST)

or Thursday 19 May (1945 BST)

They did so without leading scorer Grzegorz Rasiak who had undergone groin surgery, and Rams boss George Burley made four changes from the side thumped 6-2 by Coventry last week.

Tom Huddlestone, Richard Jackson, Marco Reich and Peschisolido came in for Mo Konjic, Chris Makin, Ian Taylor and Marcus Tudgay.

A swirling wind meant neither side could settle in the early stages but there were still chances at both ends.

Morten Bisgaard fired over the crossbar for Derby before Preston captain Graham Alexander's shot was comfortably saved by home goalkeeper Lee Camp.

Smith hit the post for Derby just before the interval and there was still time for Idiakez to give the Rams the lead before the half-time whistle was blown.

In stoppage time, Smith was brought down by Dickson Etuhu 25 yards from goal and from the free-kick, Idiakez seized his opportunity to strike a right-footed shot low to the left of a rooted Nash.

The Rams extended their lead in the early stages of the second half after a surging run down the right flank by Kenna.

He found Peschisolido who set up Smith at the far post to finish a flowing move.

Preston did not lie down and kept coming forward themselves.

They pulled one goal back on 69 minutes when Agyemang was on hand to bundle the ball over the line after Camp had clawed away a Claude Davis header.

Peschisolido's last-minute goal made certain of victory for Derby however, and they will now have home advantage in the second-leg of their play-off semi-final.

Hume sat on the bench (rested?) as Tranmere lie down and lose 2-1 to MK Dons to ensure their survival in League One.

Tranmere finish 3rd and will play Hartlepool in the first round of the playoffs for promotion to the Championship.

Onstad and De Rosario each played 90 in San Jose's 1-0 away win at MetroStars.

Felix Brillant did not dress (still injured?) for New England's 2-0 home win over Chicago.

Going into today's reserve match, Chicago's Will Johnson is the MLS Reserve League scoring leader. No word yet on whether he played this morning.

Plymouth 0-0 Leicester

Plymouth had to settle for a draw despite a strong first-half showing.

Paul Wotton and Akos Buzsaky went close for the Pilgrims early on and Scott Taylor hit the post after dispossessing Foxes defender Darren Kenton.

Leicester keeper Lars Hirschfeld also saved well from Taylor before the break, while at the other end the visitors struggled to create chances.

Buzsaky and Steve Milne had further chances for Plymouth after half-time but they could not find a breakthrough.

Here are video highlights of the game:

There's DeRo getting a volley on net that is saved by the keeper. Also, on San Jose's goal, DeRo runs into trouble, but makes a nice little back-heel pass, to Davis, who crosses the ball into box to the goal scorer.

Hasn't this always one of the weakest points of his game?

That's what people on this board say. His kicking game appeared fine against Portugal.

We have seen him enough with the MNT to see that he's having an average kicking game.

BTW, when he was playing I thought that Forrest wasn't very good with his feet but maybe it's more understandable since the rule about backpass changed when he was between 20-25 yrs old, so the adjustment was maybe more difficult for him.

You thought so? I thought it quite poor. He put two goal kicks out of bounds, one not even making the halfway line. Given that he did not do a lot of kicking - in the second half he may not have done more than one or two long ones - I wouldn't have described it as fine. I have to say though that in the second half he was distributing the ball exceptionally well with his hands and short passes to his defenders.

Helsingborg wins again, back at the top of the league, and Atiba Hutchinson is their most valuable player, at least when striker Peter Graulund is serving suspension. With Graulund on the pitch it would have been 3-1 or 4-1. Most of the stuff Atiba does does not show in the highlights, but the clip is here anyway and you can see his goal, well placed at a free kick.

Other swedish stuff this weekend: Kenny Stamatopoulos' Boden defeated Västerås at home 4-1. As you can guess from the figures not Kenny's busiest day. Trelleborg with Stephen Ademolu going the whole match lost away to Väsby United 1-0.

Kappos' Aris is stinking it up in the league. They tied 11th placed Panionios on Sunday.

Aris Facing Relegation

Although taking the lead with Sanjurjo's goal, Aris failed to claim victory in Nea Smirni and tied with Panionios (1-1). The Thessalonikan team have now thrown themselves in new adventures, as in combination to Kalamarias' victory against Chalkidona, are two points behind Apollo and in immediate danger of relegation. Will they be the third team to follow Ergotelis and Kerkyra to B National? We'll have to wait and see…

One Goal for Each Half Time

The match was not good in the first half time since both teams had focused on defense and offense came in second place. The first good moment was in the 23' when Breska centered, Goundoulakis kicked the ball and Pourliotopoulos saved it. As for Aris, in one of their few attempts in the 38', managed to open the score. After Nebegleras' pass, Sanjurjo sent the ball into Strakosia's nets with ease and a strong kick.

In the rerun, Panionios applied more pressure and finally it paid off. It was in the 69', when Breska tied to 1-1 with an amazing shot. As soon as Aris players found out that Kalamaria were ahead in score with 3-2, they speeded up and were after a second goal, which however never came.

Referee: Dabosis (Pieria)

No Yellow Cards

PANIONIOS: Strakosia, Vlcek, Maniatis (56' Dommoro), Smilianic, Makos, Tsiolis (46' Mantzios),Tziolis, Galanopoulos, Goundoulakis (63' Zimonic), Breska, Nalitzis

ARIS: Pourliotopoulos, Naindos, Papadopoulos, Gogolos, Kallimanis, Murawski, Passalis, Nebegleras, Sanjurjo, Kuemaha, Beniskos (58' Lazanas)
