TORONTO LYNX MEDIA RELEASE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

OPENING SEASON ROAD TRIPS WRAP UP THIS WEEKEND!

Wednesday, May 5, 2005 [TORONTO, ON] - The Toronto Lynx will play the final two matches of a 6-game season opening road trip this weekend in Charleston and Atlanta on Friday, May 6 and Saturday, May 7 respectively. After earning two ties from their first four matches, the Lynx will be aiming for their first win of the season this weekend. Injuries have already begun to affect Head Coach, Hubert Busby Jr.'s roster, as veteran midfielders Joe Mattacchione and Shawn Faria will both miss the trip. Trinidad and Tobago international striker, Conrad Smith is also unavailable this weekend due to a suspension for receiving a red card in Sunday's match versus Virginia Beach.

The Charleston Battery who were the 2003 USL First Division Champions struggled in regaining their championship form in 2004 and missed the playoffs for the first time in their history. The Club will decidedly be looking for their first win of 2005 after opening the season with a loss and two ties in 3 matches. Charleston has been a very unfriendly place for the Lynx, who have never taken a point from six matches.

The Atlanta Silverbacks have made a strong start in 2005. After 4 matches, the Silverbacks have a 2-1-1 record and 7 points, second only to Richmond entering the weekend. Striker, Fabian Dawkins, has been outstanding early on, scoring 4 goals in 4 games to lead the USL First Division in goals and points.

LADY LYNX ANNOUNCE 2 MORE SIGNINGS

With the W-League season opener less than two weeks away, the Toronto Lady Lynx have announced the signings of two more talented young Canadians, Joanna Alexopulos and Lisa Melander. The 17 year old, Alexopulos, is a native of Mississauga, Ontario and played with the Dixie Blaze U18 club that captured the Canadian National Club Championship along with the Ontario Cup Championship and Ontario Youth Soccer League title. She will attend the University of Memphis in the fall and is a former member of the Canadian U17 National Team.

Melander attended the Toronto Lady Lynx trials in March where she caught the eye of Head Coach, Brett Mosen. An Oakville, Ontario resident, Melander led her Erin Mills Soccer Club U17 team to a 13-1-4 record and a second place finish in the OYSL last season. She has signed a letter of intent to attend Mercyhurst College in Erie, Pennsylvania in September.

LADY LYNX PREPARE FOR FIRST EXHIBITION MATCH

Alexopolus, Melander and the rest of the 2005 Lady Lynx roster will play their first ever exhibition match when they welcome the London Gryphons of the W-League's Midwest Division to Bronte Athletic Field in Oakville (Lakeshore between Third Line and Bronte Road) this Saturday, May 7th at 2pm. Admission to the match is $3.00 with $1.00 donated to the Oakville Strikers Special Olympics Ontario team as a fund raiser for their provincial championships and $2.00 going toward the Oakville Panthers Womens 35+ team that will staff the event. Bronte Athletic Field only holds 500 seats so that any overflow crowd will have to bring lawn chairs or blankets.

The Lady Lynx will open their inaugural W-League season at home on Sunday, May 15th at 1pm when they take on the Vermont Lady Voltage at Centennial Park. The match the first of a double header that will also feature the Lynx welcoming the defending USL First Division Champion, Montreal Impact for a 4pm kickoff. With Lynx management providing a great ticket offer of two games for the price of one, this match is almost sold out! For ticket information call 416-251-4625 ext. 31 or visit www.lynxsoccer.com.
