Bluemaster
Last saturday he scored his first goal with an excellent head at the end of first half. We was sure this will give us 3 points until we got 2 goals against in the last 3 minutes. We controlled the match and Occean should have made 1 maybe 2 more goals. But it was excellent saved by an American, Adin Brown. He got 6 of 10 points in norwegians largest inline newspaper and was Man of the match. You can watch the goal and some higlights here. Norwegian lesson :-) Fortsett = continue. He is is better this season. And I am sure he will make more goals this year than the 14 he got last year. Some pictures from the match. devioustrevor
For those that don't want to go to the website here are the pics with OO that I could find (and weren't redundant -ie- there were two pics of him standing there during what looked like the National Anthem) This looks like the header he scored on: His celebration: Here's a great sight, a giant red Maple Leaf flag/banner at the game. devioustrevor
Does anyone know what king of artificial surface that is? It may just be the pictures, but it doesn't look like field turf, at least not the stuff they use at the Skydome.......err, Rogers Center*. *-That still doesn't sound right. I can already tell I'm going to be one of those cheesy sentimentalists who always refer to it as the Skydome.

Guest HamiltonSteelers
It's strange to see a huge maple leaf at a game in Norway... if that could only happen domestically...
Derosario23
hi im a serious canadian soccer fan look i like oliver ocean but i just dont think he is the type of player that we can use like radzinski or derosario im not saying he sucks but i would feel more comfortable if for the gold cup Ian Hume would be the starting striker with derosario instead of ocean i just recently joined this forum thing and i feel right at home with my fellow canadian soccer fans write me back and tell me what your comments are
DjinnX
Looks like you might get your wish. I think I read somewhere (here maybe) that Occean won't be able to make the first couple of Gold Cup games. If I remember correctly Hume and Dero are going to be the starting strike duo (at least at this point in time) at the start of the Gold Cup. hottoddy7
My preferred strike force would be Hume and Occean with Dero coming off the bench late to attack a tired defence. Occean makes us a true force in the air (check out his goals against NI and the one in this thread) and Hume is all go with a big shot from distance. Dero is more of an enigma, he will run at anyone anytime and score some fantastic goals but he gives the ball away to cheaply at times from my perspective. But that said I think Dero is going to be a starter for us as Frank really likes him and if that is the case I would much prefer him upfront than in the midfield. Daniel
Occéan is one of our most consistent scorers in his club play. He just needs to replicate that form internationally.
The Beaver
I also like a strike force made up of Hume and Occean. I like DeRo, but I don't think he is a starter. Hume may still be raw, but I like his energy and ideas and two-way play. Who else might we see up front at the Gold Cup?
devioustrevor
Another interesting fact that bluemaster revealed in the forums of an on-line game we play (it's how we know each other outside of this forum) The pictures were taken in ODD's game against Ålesund, it was the first game played in that stadium which is brand new and holds 10,600. I've asked him whose stadium it is, I asked him because I got the impression that it was a home game for ODD, but in the pictures I see more people in the Red and Blue of Ålesund. Cheeta
quote:Originally posted by The Beaver I also like a strike force made up of Hume and Occean. I like DeRo, but I don't think he is a starter. Hume may still be raw, but I like his energy and ideas and two-way play. Echo that. Think Hume is a FAR greater threat from outside of the box than DDR. Cracking right foot on that lad. Occean as a target, a speedy winger or two to exploit the flanks when the opportunity presents and Hume may just find enough space in the gut to be a threat from range. Pretty basic strategy but tried and true. Occean maybe religated to a decoy of sorts, but a decoy which cannot be ignored or he'll bite yah. Speedy Josh Simpson tearing down that left touchline may fit in nicely. Can deliver. Is brave enough to have a shot, and skilled enough to make it count. Oooh, damn it all. I'm starting to get my hopes up.
Joe Keeper
I have faith in Occean after what I saw him do against N. Ierland. I like Occean as he rose up rather fast from annonimity, to be a reasonably talented national team prospect. Usually players are identified all along. It gives me hope that we can start identifying the depth of talent that we actually do have in Canada properly. Personally I would love to see DeRo starting up front with Occean, with Hume playing just in behind them. His "spark" could perhaps inspire some more imaginative attacking plays. Plus he is the best free kicker we have right now. The more hes on the field the better.
Bluemaster
Bluemaster, thank you for your updates. However, in the future please post them in the weekly "Canadians abroad" thread that is a "sticky" at the top of the page. I have moved your two most recent posts to the appropriate weekly threads. Thanks. - Admin
