bettermirror
Whitecaps "hosted" the Sounders in Chilliwack on Saturday night and came away with a 1-0 win. It was less than inspiring. The defensive strategy by Derek Lilly seriously undermines an offensive threat. Carlo Corrazin is slower than molasses. Sheesh. The play far too slowly. They have the ability and positioning to play a quick-passing game, but the off-the-ball support is non-existent. The lack of vision to switch the play was incredibly poor as well. Once again the hot-headed Sounders took exception to the Whitecaps in Chilliwack and had one player booked. Another player was straight red-carded for a very late, unneccesary tackle from behind with just seconds left in the game.

analyst
A lot of the posts on the SS board indicate the Caps will play a defensive system this year with some conterattacks. How can you counterattack if your strikers are "slower than molasses"? Caps will have to lull their opponents to sleep so Carlo can get downfield, like the turtle and the hare. bettermirror
that's exactly my point analyst. and whoever 17 was during this match up front, was useless. valente is being used completely out of position and context as well.
MM
I saw a few Montreal games when Lilley coached, it was painful, dull defensive play. DeSantis really turned it around last year.
Daniel
Yeah, we warned you guys about Lilley. This is what happens when someone gets hired on their resumé alone.
analyst
Bettermirror, your comment about #17 is intriguing. According to the Caps website #17 is Joe Gjertsen. The Caps managed to get the Vancouver Sun to write a story about how the Caps were really pleased to have found him. Incidentally the Caps website is bad because it contains an inaccurate roster. It has many of last years players like Piette, Sulentic and Griffiths.
Rocket Robin
Yikes. And as we found out today, Piette and Griffiths have signed for the Toronto Lynx. I guess some fans may find that out at the Caps home opener.
