Apparently the least convincing 8-1 win after. Pizz and Kolic were taken off after a short time for ridiculous defensive blunders.

IMPACT: 8

MCGILL REDMEN: 1

The Montreal Impact won its second consecutive pre-season game, beating the McGill Redmen 8-1 Wednesday, at the Catalogna Soccerpexe in Lachine.

Forward Matt Palleschi, who is trying to earn a spot on the team, scored two goals for the Impact (12th and 22nd). The other Impact scorers were: Mauro Biello (17th), Sandro Grande (44th) Antonio Ribeiro (60th), Patrick Leduc (65th), Frederick Commodore (76th) and Nicolas Lesage (88th).

Jamie Scholefield scored the only goal for the Redmen (29th).

Impact goalkeepers Greg Sutton and Andrew Olivieri each played a half.

With a 4-1 lead at the half, Impact head coach Nick DeSantis changed his lineup for the second half, practically using all his players.

COMMENTS

Montreal Impact head coach Nick De Santis: “It was a positive game because we scored eight goals, but there is still a lot of work to do, notably on the defensive aspect. We allowed two goals in two games so we need to be more disciplined in the back and stay focused.”

Impact captain Mauro Biello: “Pre-season games are there for us to improve our system of play. We will have to work hard in the next days to find our rhythm.”

Matt Palleschi - I coached him. Good kid, great nose for the net. He also attended some of the Lynx training. For selfish reasons I'd like to see him end up in Toronto, but for him as well, because he'd have more opportunity to play.

I'd like to keep tabs on him, if anyone from Montreal gets any updates.

Thanks,

He was there since the beginning but there was confusion between him and Budreski !

So, from what I've seen so far, he's good but hasn't the level for the Impact yet

Maybe as 6th striker, training a whole year with the team could be good for him

But he should have few chances playing (he shouldn't but could as the Impact has as usual a lack on strikers)

He's fairly good against poor opposition but shows his weaknesses against stronger teams

He's on run with Lesage for the last striker spot in the squad
