jonovision
I'm following this matchtracker: http://svenskfotboll.se/live.net/window.aspx?id=1500001003 It's Atiba's first match of the season, if I'm not mistaken. Can any of our Scandinavian friends explain what the following terms mean: frispark, orsakar frispark, skott utanför, hörna Edit: Helsingborg up 2-0 in the 2nd half. It appears that Atiba assisted the second goal. 57 2 - 0 Peter Graulund Helsingborgs IF (Spelmål) Atiba Huchinson

Canuck Oranje
Marcel de Jong came on for Helmond Sport in the 54 min with the team down 1-0 (also the final score)to Haarlem on Friday in Holland's Gouden Gids Divisie (2nd level).
jonovision
Nice to see that de Jong made it into a first team match. From what I was able to dig up recently, he had been playing with the reserves. For those who are curious, Gouden Gids is the Yellow Pages here.
Dandal
Atiba's Helsingborg has spent time during the off-season to try to fix the team's problems, mainly in the midfield. The solution seems to be a 4-2-3-1 system, with Atiba Hutchinson and swedish U21 player Andreas Dahl as the two DM's. From what I saw (on TV, and I must admit I wasn't completly focused) it worked out well. Rather cautious play in the first half from both sides, much more movement in the second. The second Helsingborg goal was a little beauty: Atiba, at the left of the area, got the ball from winger Mngomeni's heel, moved at the endline towards goal but instead of trying a shot fooled the goalie and chipped the ball to Helsingborg's danish striker Graulund who had an open goal. Hope some network will put a clip on the web. Helsingborg - Halmstad was the kick-off match for this Allsvenskan season. The other "canadian" clubs - Boden (Stamatopoulos), Trelleborg (Ademolu), Öster (Hughes) - is in Superettan, which starts next weekend.

Guest Jeffery S.
Occean played 90 for Odd and Bernier the same for Tromso in the first match of the Norway Eliteserien, 1-1 draw. Dani Fernandes was on the bench as Paok fell to AEK and fell back into 5th in the Greek league. Fernando Aguiar is still injured and did not dress as Penafiel beat Morereinse (sp?) 1-0 to keep in lower mid table. The team looks good to stay in top flight for next year. matthew
Will Johnson went 90 minutes for the Chicago Fire's reserves in a 4-1 loss to DC United in one of the first MLS reserve matches. DC United used Freddy Adu for the second half which turned the tide and Honduran back Samuel Caballero also played for Chicago. Reports on bigsoccer contradict on Johnson's performance. He was paired up top with Chad Barret a good US youth intl. cheers, matthew
El Hombre
quote:Originally posted by canadiankick97 Simpson plays 78 minutes and Serioux is nowhere to be seen in Millwall's 4-3 win over Crewe Alexandra. He hasn't even made the bench for the last two reserves matches either and there's no news of an injury that I can find. Anyone have any idea what happened to him? Guest Jeffery S.
Rob Friend played 90 for Molde in the season opener, losing 2-0 to Brann. Got a 4 rating, like most on the team, from vg.no. Marco Bras played 90 in a 4-1 win for Pampilhosa over Pombal in Portugal third tier. They are lower table but well above relegation.

Stu
Lars brilliant but unlucky: Late Penalty Crushes Reserves A resilient performance by City's second string ended in disappointment when a spot kick handed Crystal Palace a 1-0 victory at Marston's Stadium in their first match at the new home of Hinckley United. Manager Craig Levein will be glad to see Jason Wilcox, Jordan Stewart and Darren Kenton have proven their match fitness, all completing the full 90 minutes to give the City boss more first team options for Saturday. The game was played at a high tempo and with both sides pressing the ball, goal scoring chances were difficult to come by. Indeed it took City until the 25th minute to really test Julian Speroni when Chris O'Grady was unfortunate to see the goalkeeper get a touch to his shot after Peter Canero and Tommy Wright had combined down the right to put the Eagles' defence on the back foot. Despite a shaky start, fumbling the ball after Palace's first attack from the kickoff, Lars Hirschfeld (pictured above) put in a great display on the night in the Leicester goal. The Foxes would not have made it to the break on level terms but for a fantastic double save from the Canadian 'keeper after 40 minutes. Joonas Kolkka burst through the City offside trap to give him a rare sight at goal but after blocking the first strike with his chest, the City stopper recovered quickly to deny the Palace man a second time as he tried to slot the ball into the bottom corner of the net. It was clear that there would be no repeat of Palace's eight goal rout against Portsmouth last week with Hirschfeld in this form and his defence closing down their opponents at every opportunity. It was more of the same in the second half with neither side posing much threat of breaking the deadlock. The pace inevitably eased off as the game progressed creating more space and Wilcox would step up to take advantage. His cross from the left on 68 minutes found the head of Wright, though the young City striker's effort was saved one-handed at the far post. However it was the visitors who would strike the killer blow with less than three minutes left on the clock. When it looked like Hirschfeld had pulled off another fine save scrambling across his box, the referee awarded a penalty for an earlier foul. Wayne Andrews picked himself up and put it away to wrap up the points for Palace. CITY: Hirschfeld, Canero, Stewart, Dawson (Sheehan 74), Kenton, Heath, Wright, Gemmill, O'Grady, Moore, Wilcox Subs (not used): Logan, Porter, Wykes, Dodds Booked:Heath 55, Moore 85 PALACE: Speroni, Butterfield (Watanbe 45), Whiggins, Fray, Hudson , Wilson, Hall, Danze, Ventola, Andrews, Kolkka (Berry 64) Subs (not used): Grabban, Wilkinson, Starkey Booked: Andrews
