Wikipedia entry on Soccer in Canada

The thing about women's soccer being more popular is kinda off (the women's national team might attract more people) and the "many players have played for other national teams" when it's essentially you-know-who (and we're not talking Mayard or Titus, here).

It says that Canada was an early soccer power. Is that true??

We won gold at the 1904 Olympics when the tourny was a joke (3 club teams, 2 Americans and Galt FC from Ontario).

See, this is the stuff I'm talking about. Not necessarily wrong, just not super right either.

The tournament may have been a joke but the soccer level in the rest of the world was much lower at this time. Canada's level at the time was probably near to that of many other nations. Soccer was at the time an amateur sport and many of the large clubs had only recently been founded at the time. Many countries brag about winning Olympic and World Cup soccer tournaments at times at which the level of competition was not particularly high so I don't think we really need to put a particular asterix by our victory when other countries do not do so. The only thing I found inaccurate about the article is the reasons given for Owen "The Traitor" Hargreaves not playing for Canada.
