Sarah steps up NI training

A YOUNG Bellaghy Ladies soccer star is in Portugal this week on an intensive training and match schedule with the Northern Ireland U-19 squad.

Sarah McFadden will spend ten days with the squad in preparation for a number of forthcoming events.

It is expected that during the stay the team will also play several challenge matches.

Her selection in the team is another notable achievement for Sarah, who is a final year pupil at the Rainey Endowed School in Magherafelt.

Aged 17, she is also a member of the Northern Ireland U-19 Ladies squad and is one of the youngest chosen to represent Northern Ireland in these matches.

Just last weekend, she was in Dublin to benefit from the coaching expertise of a football coach from Pittsburg in USA came to see her play.

And, if everything works out, she could even be making her way to attend university in America where could be offered a scholarship to a university in Pittsburg to continue her football career.

In the meantime, though, she is currently enjoying her ten day stint in Portugal and will come back ready to continue representing Moyola Park Ladies and Northern Ireland with distinction.
