Is it me, or are we getting worse rather than better?

Painful memories!

In the WCQ for 94, losing that last game to Mexico in Toronto was disappointing, then losing to Australia on penalties (what kind of run up was Mike Sweeney doing?) was heartwrenching. That was Lenarduzzi's apex as manager; he followed up with the disastrous WCQ 98 qualifying by playing his immobile midfield (primarily Miller, Aunger, and Dasovic, with an out of form Hooper) and getting routed by the opposition! The first two road matches against the Mexicans and the Americans were agony to watch, especially the latter: we looked totally devoid of skill.

Look at it this way,

For 1998 WCQ, to my knowledge we had NO players playing top tier football. In 2002, we just had Radz and he didn't really play.

Canadians playing top tier, WCQ 2006:

Radzinski, Stalteri, Deguzman

though he didn't play, you can throw in Brennan, and maybe now DeRosario too.

Players playing top tier football by the time WCQ 2010 rolls around:

Probably: Hume, Deguzman, Peters

Possibly: Stalteri, Simpson, Klukowski, Hutchinson, Brennan, DeRosario, DeVos, Jonothan DeGuz,

We're definitely getting better, not worse, the results will come in time.
