Winnipeg Fury
This weekend on Soccercentral, Gerry Dobson and Craig Forrest take a look at the men's side as they prepare for their friendly international match against Northern Ireland. Kevin McKenna, Dwayne DeRosario and Aitba Hutchinson will all be key players for Canada. McKenna returns to the lineup after recovering from a terrible knee injury, while DeRosario recently completed a trade to Danish team Aarhus and scored Canada's last goal in competitive play. The Canucks are going to have to watch for David Healey and Jeff Whiteley, who both scored in September's World Cup qualifier against Wales. Soccer Saturday kicks off with Crystal Palace's match against Bolton at 7 a.m. EST. Manchester United's Chelsea chase follows at 10 a.m. EST when the Red Devils meet Birmingham City and concluding the triple-header, Aston Villa travels to Highbury for a date with Arsenal. beachesl
quote:Originally posted by bettermirror ah de ro did make the switch! We'll see, the latest thread below from Denmark indicates he probably won't be offered a contract there, and Sportsnet is awfully inaccurate and not up to date. kelownaguy
Yeah, I think this Sportsnet Article is wrong, the guy from Denmark posting on the other thread said they ended up signing Norwegian International Crister George instead of DeRo. Poor Dwayne, just not having any luck finding a club to take him on, quite surprising with all that talent he's got. Hopefully he keeps on plugging away over there in Europe.. Grizzly
They have indeed signed Crister George but as yet I have not seen anything on any of the websites saying that DeRo's trial has been terminated. Obviously the signing of a competitor at the same position isn't good news but don't assume he the trial has ended unsuccessfully until there is some official notification. Andrew W
Just watched it, what a crappy piece it was. Dobson even got the score of the NI-Wales WCQ wrong, it was a 2-2 draw. No interview with Frank about the selections and the direction of the team considering those selections. It can be such a disappointing show at times. Gian-Luca
Yeah, there coverage of the US team was a lot better, which is a bit strange since they are a Canadian network.
Massive Attack
Did the mid-week show talk about the WYC team? I was hoping to see some of the goals on TV instead of on my DivX player.
Andrew W
Talk was all they did, but at least they inteviewed Dale Mitchell and Jaime Peters in that one. No highlights though.

Although I got a real kick out of Clint Mathis' soprano voice. But the point is conceded, they've done plenty of coverage of the US team during its dispute and now with qualifying continuing. Vancouver Fan
Their "Canadian Headlines" is a joke.Usually made up of recycled news. They used to have interviews with overseas players in person and by phone and even had the "Impress the MLS'segments that were good. Now we don't even get a mention about Humes goal today or what other Canadians did. Then we're shown the USA team preparing for the Hex.Very dissapointing. Agree completely. Their US coverage is nothing short of nauseating and it completely pisses me off. Perhaps we should drop a few lines to Sportsnet.
