Hannover 96 could move up into a European spot this Saturday if they can beat visitors Borussia Dortmund. The Dortmund club have had a poor season, injury woes with the Czech Rosicky and Brazilian Ewerthon out, and have massive debt problems off the field on top of that. Hannover sit in 6th place with 31 points, just behind Werder Bremen (in the last Euro spot) on goal difference. Julian de Guzman will be back in his familiar defensive midfield role alongside Lala.

I hope to see Paul Stalteri get the start on Sunday, as Werder Bremen are away to 8th placed VfL Wolfsburg. Central defender Ismael is out on 5 yellow cards, but hopefully Paul will take the spot of either right back Davala who he has consistently outplayed in the past or the newcomer Brazilian Nery at left back, who has yet to have a full 90 minutes in the 2nd half of the season.

Tam Nsaliwa and 1.FC Saarbruecken are coming off a huge win over MSV Duisburg, knocking them out of first place, and are away to Energie Cottbus tomorrow. A kicker article has coach Erhmanntraut warning the youngsters not to let their recent successes get to their heads. Saarbruecken sit in 5th place overall, but well back (9 points) from a promotion spot.

Nik Ledgerwood and 1860 Muenchen reserves are still 2 weeks away from the 2nd half of the Regional League South season. No rest for the weary as Nik is with the reserves in Turkey this week, and scored today in a friendly win over a Slovakian club.

Dylan Hughes also played the last friendly with his new club SSV Jahn Regensburg who meet 1860 Muenchen to open the back round.

Look for Maycoll Canizales with Hannover 96 amateurs against the reserves of FC St. Pauli on Sunday in the Oberliga Nord. Their game last weekend was postponed. Victor Oppong should be in action with SV Waldhof Mannheim on Saturday vs SV Bonlanden in the Oberlia Baden-Wuerttemberg.

Tam is judged to have committed a foul in the box and 1.FC Saarbruecken give up a very early goal to go down 1-0 in the first half against Energie Cottbus. They manage to equalize later in the 2nd half to earn a 1-1 draw.

An initial report had Tam at fault on the PK awarded to Cottbus, but some subsequent match reports have Adiele the guilty party. 1. FC Saarbruecken have signed goalkeeper Marc Ziegler for next season. He was with Julian de Guzman's Hannover 96 prior to his current club, Austria Vienna.

If I recall correctly, Ziegler was a huge disappointment at Hannover after arriving to some fanfare and they were pretty happy to get rid of him. On the other hand playing for a 2nd Bundesliga club or possibly a promoted 1st Bundesliga club is different than playing for one that has been establishing itself in the 1st Bundesliga for several years.

Paul Stalteri starts and sets up both goals as Werder Bremen comes back from a 2-0 deficit against VfL Wolfsburg. Ten minutes left still 2-2.

Game over as Werder Bremen complete a great comeback, winning 3-2 with Valdez scoring very late. They move into 4th place, 4 points from 2nd and 7 points behind Bayern Munich.
