Chet
It looks like Sportsnet has dropped the Arsenal - Wolves game on Saturday in favour of the Pesch - Radzinski tilt. Way to go, Sportsnet! Hopefully Pesch will be back from his injury by then.
Polish_LYNX_Fan
good times not only do I get to see 2 canucks in action I also get to see Grzegorz Rasiak from derby. The foreward has 11 goals so far this season.
Loud Mouth Soup
We're excited to have lesser quality simply because Canadians are involved? And yes, I'm saying it's lesser quality.
Daniel
Well, Wolves aren't exactly tearing up the Championship and this might give us a tighter game, ON TOP of having Canadians involved (we hardly ever get to see our players abroad!!!). Grizzly
quote:Originally posted by Loud Mouth Soup We're excited to have lesser quality simply because Canadians are involved? And yes, I'm saying it's lesser quality. Most sport fans are more interested in teams and players they can relate to than pure playing level. As I am not a transplanted English Arsenal fan, I really couldn't care less if they win or lose this game. I also wouldn't usually care about Fulham or Derby but since Canadians play for them I can relate to the teams and am also interested in seeing how the Canadians perform individually. Not that I don't appreciate a well-played high level match but I would usually choose to watch teams that I care about over those I don't. That is why I used to go to 3rd and 4th division games in Germany because my team was playing rather than go to nearby 1st Bundesliga games. That is why fans of teams like Fulham and Millwall go to their games when they could just as easily attend far better teams like Arsenal and Chelsea. That is why Canadians are bothered by the NHL strike even though most either don't have a team in their city, can't get tickets or can't afford them. Why should it make a difference watching NHL games on tv or watching the Swedish and Russian league teams on tv where the same players are playing and whose leagues are now quite close to NHL level? The majority of fans need to be able to relate to the players and teams. Since we don't have strong soccer clubs in Canada, the most we can relate to is our players playing overseas and that is why most of the posters on a Canadian national team fansite would rather watch Canadian national team players than Arsenal's superstars.
