I an article from Savona yesterday Savona played an exbition match game with Sampadoria Primavera which ended in a draw 0 - 0 without primary their Striker Julian Uccello and the other Zancanti who is almost recovered from his injury. This game is the set up for the first game at home agaisnt Casteggio on sunday. The team now healty on most counts with some dubio on the other striker Zancanti but appears to have the nod with Julian in the line up in time for his match on Sunday.

Pesch misses Cup clash through niggling injury.

Derby v Wigan: Preview

PA

Derby manager George Burley is sweating on the fitness of three players ahead of the FA Cup clash with Wigan at Pride Park.

Defenders Jeff Kenna (back) and Michael Johnson (Achilles) and striker Grzegorz Rasiak (rib and hip) have all missed training this week but Burley is hopeful all three will figure.

Hamstring injury victim Paul Peschisolido is certain to miss out, left-back Jamie Vincent remains sidelined by a calf injury and central defender Mo Konjic by a long-term knee problem.

Ian Breckin will return to the Wigan squad after the defender missed the home win over Wolves through suspension.

Paul Jewell has a full squad at his disposal, minus long-term injury victim Per Frandsen, and hinted there could be changes to his starting XI as the Latics have played five games in 13 days.

Alan Mahon, David Wright and Mike Flynn could therefore be in line for recalls.

Josh Simpson plays 90 for Millwall in their 2-0 FA Cup loss to Wolves. Serioux does not make the bench.

Meanwhile, Jim Brennan starts again for Norwich in their FA Cup match against West Ham. Becoming a more regular member of the first team, it appears.

Round-up.

Josh Simpson plays 90 as Millwall, last year's FA Cup finalists, crash out to Wolverhampton 2-0. No Adrian on the bench or starting, no known reason at this time.

No Peschisolido as mentioned above (due to his hamstring injury), though Derby do go through after defeating Wigan 2-1.

Jason de Vos plays the full 90 as Ipswich are dumped out of the Cup with a 3-1 home loss to Bolton.

No sign of Mr. Bricham (QPR made 5 changes to the line-up after the loss to Leicetser on Monday) as QPR also go out of the FA Cup, losing 3-0 at home to Nottingham Forest.

Radzinski misses out on Fulham's 1-1 draw with Watford due to a hamstring injury suffered against Southampton.

Jim Brennan plays the full 90 as Norwich join the list of losing sides in the FA Cup, going down 1-0 to West Ham.

Terry Dunfield goes off after only 23 minutes as Bury draw 0-0 at home to Leyton Orient in League Two play. No word on the reason why.

Mark Rogers goes the full 90 as Stevenage also draw this afternoon in the Conference, 2-2 at home to York.

Kevin McKenna plays the full 90 in what appears to be defence as Hearts draw 0-0 ta Partick in Scottish Cup action.

FOOTBALL: FA CUP THIRD ROUND: Harewood gives Hammers the edge

WEST HAM 1: HAREWOOD 81

NORWICH 0

THERE IS NOTHING like the FA Cup third round for the raising of old class distinctions. Teams are routinely referred to as being two divisions below other teams. They are pigeon-holed as being precisely 58 places lower in the pecking order. Everyone knows their place and, although it delights the general populace should an uppity commoner indulge in a bit of toff-killing, it is a place to which they are swiftly asked to return.

Two members of the bourgeoisie fronted up to each other here. Although Norwich are technically a division, or eight places, above West Ham, the situation is very fluid and the two are more likely than not to be seeing each other regularly later in the year.

This was not a time for airs and graces - it was a contest between two teams so closely ranked that neither could be confident of maintaining any superiority.

Nothing happened for the first 10 minutes and then, after a free-kick, there was an almighty kerfuffle on the Norwich six-yard line. It was heads-down five-a-side, with no one too concerned about making contact with the ball. All good, clean fun.

In its aftermath, Norwich should have taken the lead when a cross from Jim Brennan was met by David Bentley, but he duffed his header over the bar from close range.

At the other end, Sergei Rebrov bent a shot around Robert Green, but past the post. Then Bentley nearly made amends by crossing for Darren Huckerby, who drew a fine instinctive save from James Walker. All good knockabout stuff.

Norwich, with Damien Francis and Jim Brennan impressing, were the classier side, but West Ham were the friskier and there was little to choose between them.

A lull followed. It was as if both sides, while anxious not to disgrace themselves, didn't really mind that much how the occasion panned out.

Norwich showed more vim in the second half and should have broken the deadlock when a lofted ball from Brennan found Huckerby one-on-one with the keeper, but he shot against the post. Minutes later, Mattias Jonson wasted another chance when, after good work from Huckerby, he shot too close to Walker.

Everything became ragged. It was almost as if these depleted squads would do anything to avoid having to meet again next week.

Such recklessness eventually produced a goal. With less than 10 minutes to go, the impressive Chadwick diddled his way to the byline and pulled the ball back for the hitherto clumsy Marlon Harewood to sidefoot the ball past Green.

Norwich responded with shots from Huckerby and Brennan, both of which were saved, in short order, by Walker.

The lower-ranked team prevailed, but this was hardly a giant-killing. Norwich haven't won away from home all season.

Afterwards, West Ham manager Alan Pardew praised debutant Mark Noble: 'He lives around the corner - all his family live around the corner. We hope he will be a cornerstone of the club.'

He finished by praising his class: 'It's a stronger league than it's given credit for.'

Nice to hear that Brennan is coming along and "impressing." Now, Frankie, let's see if you and Jimmie can settle matters and get along. Simpson and Brennan and Kluka and Jazic--all fighting for a couple of positions on the left side. What a treat! My gut tells me that Josh and Jim should get the starting roles, with Kluka pushing into a central defending role, maybe paired up with Devos for experience.

Stick Tam on the right, Stalteri and Imhoff OR Stalteri and Grande in the middle of the pitch, and either Hume or Hutch or Imhoff on the right flank. Then let's see what DD and Hume, or DD and Ocean can do. All very interesting.

On Monday in the English third tier, Iain Hume went the distance as Tranmere lost 1-0 at home to Bristol City.

On Sunday from Italy:

Rocco Placentino came on as a sub (can't find the exact time) as Cavese beat Ragusa 2-1 in Serie C2C action. Cavese reclaim first place with the win.

David Masciantonio did not play in Monterotondo's 2-1 win over Larcianese in Serie D Girone E action.
