nufc87
Just wondering if any UK based(or worldwide)Canadians are planning on going to Belfast to watch the match on Feb,9th? I live in Cardiff and plan on heading up for a midweek belter...proper Northern Irish Belter, if anyone else is going over lemme know.
Kurosawa1555362267
I would love to but me and my girlfriend are saving for a house. I doubt she would like to see me go to Europe just to see a soccer match, even if it involves Canada. Anyway I'm still trying to figure out how I will be able to go to the Gold Cup during our summer vacation.
nufc87
it should also be mentioned that the N. Irish are terrific supporters, and its a decent side, I watched the Wales v. N. Ireland match at Millenium, and they were an enthusiastic well behaved bunch...considering the crap football they have put up with over the decades I was surprised by their passion and numbers. If we can get some Canadians together and head to Windsor Park I can garentee a wicked time....really the match means nothing to both teams and, and they are both at around the same level...should be entertaining, and perhaps us Canucks could see a win?!? dare I say! Alex
Hmm, considering im poor and a University student, my best bet it to see it on tv. Who thinks Sportsnet will actually pick this one up? Considering there aint no hockey. It should draw better than poker or pool, oh yeah or the first round FA Cup matches. Its gonna piss me right off if they have Brentford vs. Hinckley United and no Canada!

If the CSA want the team on television, then improve the on field product.
Soju
Match prediction: Hinckley (managed by savagebeast) 4 - Canada nil. Get with the program Sigma!
ballboy
I don't think the Canada - Northern Ireland game will be on telly (sportsnet) but I will be more than happy to be surprised.
Blue and White Army
Hmmmm. I'm giving serious thought to going, as I'm based in London, and a London-Belfast flight on Ryanair etc is quite cheap. Think I should hack away at the student loan and save for the World Cup, though....

EasyJet operate from Belfast International Airport (or Aldergrove, as we call it in Tyrone), whilst FlyBe operate from Belfast City Airport (which is Smaller, but is Closer to Belfast). To get to Windsor Park, get a CityBus from Great Victoria Street to Lisburn Road.

Here is the answer Thank you for your recent email. Unfortunately, we have not been offered the broadcasting rights for that match. Our apologies for any inconvenience that this may cause. François
I guess the people at sportsnet won't ASK for the broadcasting rights???
PaulLeH
I found out about this today and I've bought my ticket to go to Norn Iron (costing £10 on EasyJet from London). I've given the word to my brother and he may be interested as well. Belfast is a great night out as well.

My brother and I live in edinburgh, and are going to head across with our Northern Irish friends, but would perfer to sit with fellow Canadians and cheer loudly when we win 3-1. BC supporter
Really wish I had the money to go. Last year I spent 6 weeks backpacking in Ireland and three of my best days were in Belfast. Stayed at the International "Youth" Hostel about 10 minutes walk from the bus station on the Golden Mile. I'd seen all the murals and political crap on a previous backpacking trip, so this time just enjoyed the city itself -- the big university pubs in the south and Robinsons Bar in particular. A fine town, clean and uncrowded, lots to do. All that and an international football friendly -- should be a great time for you guys.
Blue and White Army
BBC Radio Ulster has live streaming audio: http://www.bbc.tv/radio/aod/radioulster.shtml I've emailed them to ask if they plan to carry the match.
