This is totally bizarre. I remember Vic Arpeggio doing this to go undercover to crack a case in 'Black like Vic' on SCTV. One of the funnier lines Vic says is when this kid is staring at his highly glossy face and he says "what, haven't you ever seen a good looking black man before?" Classic.

Well, I applaud Getafe's intention. It may be a strange means to try and bring to bear the issue of racial tolerance. But....won't the shoe polish run with some sweat? And how the hell will the ball look like after a few ill-timed headers? A nice, but strange gesture by Getafe.

I assume it's a cultural thing.

Spanish history does not indicate a familiarity with minstrel shows

(the "Al Johnson" sterotypes, also brought up in a segment of

"All in the Family" btw), and the blackening of faces has some

religious reference during inquisition days.

Quite bizarre in this day and age, yet I don't know the world

will view Spanish football further.
