An Observer
Seems De Guzman scored recently for A-1 Feyenoord in a 3-2 win over Twente/Hercules to keep pace with Ajaz at the top of the standings; Marcel De Jong has signed a two year contract for Helmond Sport and has already played 5 times for the 1st team; No sign on the web of Kerr McCleod with Vitesse since be a sub in the first match of the year, And not much info on Graham Ramalho other than he is still listed as a defender for A-1 with Groningen.
youllneverwalkalone
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Helmond Sport for their first class web site, likely contructed by Columbus himself. I'm curious why many other sites are listing Marcel de Jong as an 82 birthdate? I thought he was much younger? And what is this league? Is this the same division where Hastings had his cup of coffee with Maastricht?

Yikes if this is true! Not only the goals, but especially being captain at such a young age. Let's hope we see him turn up in a maple leaf but I'm starting to get uneasy, especially with our pitiful WCQ in 2000 and 2004.
Guest Ed
A good article Friday in the Hannover Allgemeine Zeitung has a conversation with Julian where I got that news. It also has Julian saying that Jonathan is 'almost Dutch' and that the Dutch want him to play for them. I don't think that is news to anybody. James
Big reason why we need a more professional setup over here. We will continue to lose our best if they have to leave at 12(I think he was at most that old, when he left for Holland). Still, Hume, who had a pretty amazing youth career, chose the maple leaf. He was in England by 15 and Dunfield was at Man City at an even younger age(14?). It would really suck to lose the younger DeGuzman. It would be hard to be angry with him over it because he wasn't even a teenager when he left Canada. He certainly wouldn't be a "whore". My fingers are crossed, it would be brilliant to see the brothers together for 2010 but wherever he ends up, I wish him well.
Daniel
The thing with Hume is that he was playing with an English team on a Scottish passport, so he didn't get pressure from the country he was playing in. Here is a Babelfish translation of Julian talking about Jonathan: http://world.altavista.com/babelfish/trurl_pagecontent?url=http%3A%2F%2Ffeyenoord.netwerk.to%2Fnieuws%2Fartikel%2F7302_Wordt%2520De%2520Guzman%2520Nederlander%253F.php&lp=nl_en I'd love to see the CSA send him an invite for U20 WCQ this year or, if we do make it, for the 2005 WYC which would conveniently enough be in Holland. The new FIFA rules would permit him to change national teams even if he does play for a certain youth team. I would see this as a great way to test the Canadian side of things without making a choice right away.

hottoddy7
Hey I was wondering where was jonathan deguzman born? and what position does he play?
Daniel
Pretty sure he was born in TO or around, like Julian. I read he's a mid, but 12 goals in 12 games from a mid would be surprising.
The Beaver
Yeah, I know it hasn't happened yet, but I am starting to get the impression that I better brace myself for disappointment regarding Jonathon DeGuzman. Damn it's dark out.
