redhat
quote:Originally posted by canso It's called gallows humour...laughing in the face of death. I'm sure Craig would see the humour of it...or should I spell that humor to appease you censor happy Republican wannabe killjoys? Okay. Gallows humour is the perrogative of Craig's (the person dealing with the disease), not yours. As for Craig seeing the humour of it, when was the last time he brought up the incident? Four years ago? Why don't you do a 9/11 joke while you're at it? Maybe I'm too sensitive about it, but when people around you have died of cancer (friends, mother-in-law, father, and mother) recently, and having lots of experience at CancerCare where you see what "fun" radiation, chemo, and surgery can bring, I think I know what the F*ck I'm talking about. But whatever. I'm sure you've put a lot of thought into your comments. As for being Republican killjoys, I doubt it being Canadian liberal and all. I just thought your joke was unfortunate. canso
When I was driving my girlfriend home from chemo couple years ago, after a brutal session in her fight against breast cancer, I started singing a little song to her, to the tune of "Oh Boy" by Buddy Holly: "All my life, I been kissing, Your right tit, Cause the left one's missing, Oh Boy!" She laughed till she cried then started laughing again like she hadn't laughed since the diagnosis. We all deal with it differently.

redhat
quote:Originally posted by canso We all deal with it differently. I accept that. I guess I've been too tired to deal with cancer in the family for the past 6 years, that I'm just ready to destroy anyone with an insensitive cancer joke. Peace man, all the best to you and your girlfriend.
