the mystery behing Brennan + company

I think many Canadian Soccer Fans were shocked of the absentee of certain players: Jim Brennan, Tony Menezes, Mike Kluwkowski, Marc Bircham, Mckenna(just for last game), Fern Aguair, Jason Bent, Tam Nsawila

However we do not know the behind-the-scenes reasons. Maybe Brennan didn't want to play for Canada? Bircham has had personal problems in the past(Holger) Bent is coming off a injury, Aguair has had personal problems in the past too(Holger). Menenzes had minor injuries, so the only real mysteries were Nsawila and Kluwkowski. We will never know the real truth behing the problems, especially with Brennan.

With that being said, Yallop's player selections weren't that poor but his starting selections and position selections were poor. Onstad over Hirshfield was a disaster, same with Watson over Imhof or Simpson in defence. De Rosario should of been played as a striker, instead of a midfielder. Carlo Corazzin? he looked slow and out of tune.(If Carlo would of scored Yallop would of looked like a genius) Candada had such bad luck AGAIN with players being injured(Mckenna-huge loss), suspended(devos-1st game, Stalteri),and no-shows(brennan + Bircham).

Well Gold Cup 2005 will approach fast, Yallop, Please field the best team possible.

Wow, without any real basis you suggest a problem with Brennan not wanting to play for Canada? He did show up for Belieze if you will recall. Also, on what basis do you also lump Bircham into the same category? Now, I am of the opinion that Bircham was not an essential miss and we did not miss his presence. But we certainly missed Nsaliwa and Brennan, and I am convinced that Klukowski offers more than some of the players picked.

couple points on what u said....there's nop reason to assume brennen did not want to play...no more so than to assume yallop didnt want him anyways.

u cant say that it was bad to play watson over imhoff or simpson......watson plays in the middle...simpson lpays on the left, and imhoff plays on the flanks when he plays fullback (which is very rare anyways)

Onstad over lars waas not nessesarily Yallop's fault....did you notice how well lars played for DU when given the chance? after about 3 apps the DU on-loan keeper was recalled b/c lars let in some a tonne of goals...

You are right bout yallops selections on the feild.....he did call up good squads but mis-used some players (i.e. dero on the left flank etc...)

I'd like to see Kluko at left back.....im pretty conviced he's a better choice than Jazic (better passes.......not those weak ones back to the keeper)

Look, Aguiar doesn't want to play for the MNT. That's his choice, end of story. And don't call him Fern.

As for the other players, other than Brennan, Yallop has contact with them. Brennan's not even

playing at all, other than reserves. Menezes was even off form in the Pacific tourney.

As for on-field selections, no one here is sure that he didn't TRY the combinations proposed.

Don't know why he called Corrazin, other than the fact that he played well in the A-League

playoffs (saw the hi-lights) and this is his last hurrah. Sure was.

Yallop made some bad calls, just like every other coach.

Hey Redhat,

Fern may not want to play for the MNT. But who cares, hes not good enough anyway. Holger didn/t think so and Frank doesn't either. Where does he play, Portugal's 2nd division now, whoopadeedoo!, Maybe one day he will play for the whitecaps and then we will win the championship. Later Stacks

Aguiar plays for Penafiel in the Portugal's highest division you dumbas.s. The same league where Benfica and Porto play.
