Paul Stalteri and Werder Bremen are back in action this Saturday taking on the surprise team this season, promoted FSV Mainz 05. Paul is expected to start and is featured in an interview today with the 'Weser-Report' where he talks about the team's start to the season and his role.

Julian de Guzman luckily gets an extra day as his Hannover 96 host league leaders VfL Wolfsburg on Sunday. Julian will likely start.

In the Bundesliga 2, Tam Nsaliwa should start on Sunday for 1.FC Saarbruecken as they travel east to take on last place Dynamo Dresden. A win on Sunday could put them into promotion territory, but a little early in the season to get one's hopes too high.

Ryan Thomson and RW Essen have a game tomorrow, away against Karlsruher SC. Both clubs are in relegation spots, with Ryan's team one point up on the Karlsruhe side.

In the Regional League South, Nik Ledgerwood and 1860 Muenchen reserves look to get back on track tomorrow as they host VfR Aalen.

Paul Stalteri and Werder Bremen are the latest victims of the upstart promoted club FSV Mainz 05. Mainz stun the Bundesliga champions yesterday with 2 late goals to come from behind for a 2-1 win. The win for Mainz vaults them over Bayern Munich into 3rd place; Paul Stalteri's club stays in 5th place overall. Paul gets his usual 90 minutes in the losing effort.

Don't know whether this is a carry over from his national team duties, but Julian de Guzman is subbed off very early (27th minute) today as his Hannover 96 club are out in front of league leaders VfL Wolfsburg 1-0 at home. Apparently injured according to the Hannover site ticker. Wolfsburg are applying enormous pressure so the points are hardly safe in this "Lower Saxony" derby.

Tam Nsaliwa and 1. FC Saarbrucken fall 2-1 to Dynamo Dresden as the eastern club climb off the bottom of the Bundesliga 2 table. Tam played 90 minutes as a central defender again.

On Friday in the Bundesliga 2, Ryan Thomson did not get off the bench as RW Essen lost 4-1 to Karlsruher SC.

Nik Ledgerwood was subbed off in the 61st minute as his 1860 Muenchen reserves lost 2-1 to VfR Aalen in the Regional League South.

Alen Marcina came on in the 74th minute as his FC Schweinfurt 05 club lost 2-1 to FC Memmingen in the Oberliga Bayern on Saturday. Victor Oppong starts another game as a striker for SV Waldhof Mannheim who go down 3-0 to the FC Freiburg reserves today in the Oberliga Baden-Wuerttemburg. No game report as yet on Dylan Hughes and the 1.FC Kaiserslautern reserves as they draw 1-1 today with FV Engers in the Oberliga Sudwest. No sign of Maycoll Canizales or Blerim Rrustemi for their respective clubs this weekend.

Paul Stalteri picked up a yellow card today as Werder Bremen beat RSC Anderlecht 3-1. The Bremen club sit second in Group G with 6 points after 3 games. I'm assuming Paul will miss the return leg (2 yellows) as Werder Bremen host the Belgian club in 2 weeks time.
