Guest Can. in UK
From FootyMad.net: 17 Year old Canadian International Winger Jamie Peters is set to join Millwall later this week after returning from World Cup Duty with his country. Peters had been offered a trial at a number of First Division clubs including Derby County and the Lions and also is believed to have had a trial with Premiership giants Manchester United. With Canada manager Jamie Peters and Town central defender Jason De Vos all advising him to move to Suffolk, it looked likely that Town were in pole position to secure the signing of the former Kaiserslautern youth player. However as Jason De Vos told the East Anglian Daily Times, the youngster has decided to join Millwall instead: “Despite the best efforts of Frank and myself, Jaime has said he wants to go to Millwall. "He has family in London so I can understand his decision. It is quite daunting for a young Canadian to come over here to play football, so it makes sense to go to a club where he has family to support him.”
Luis_Rancagua
I do think that this is the right choice for Jamie Peters. Playing in the Championship league will give him lots of playing time.

SeanKeay
I have gotten some inside information... if u dont wanna believe it, thats fine.... But Peters is intending on signing with Millwall and just has to dot the eyes and such. Also he declined a contract from Man U. The reason was, he wants to play 1st team ball and man u couldnt give that to him, so he chose to goto millwall and get 1st team play.
nolando
that's great news...and especially when it comes from a poster we know with a lot of posts and a solid reputation...we only question when some new poster pops up out of nowhere with mouthwatering news that seriously risks the reputation of one of the Nats...solid info is always welcome...and thanks for the scoop, Sean. DoyleG
Funny that an Aussie group tried to buy Milwall and turn it into a developmental ground for Australian players. Guess it's us doing it instead.
Timotas
Friday, September 17, 2004 US firm takes 11 per cent stake in Millwall LONDON, Sept 17 (Reuters) - A U.S.-based investment firm has taken an 11 percent stake in London club Millwall, FA Cup finalists last season. In a statement to the London Stock Exchange on Friday, Lonestar Partners LP said it owned 10.9 percent of Millwall Holdings Plc. 'We have been supportive of Millwall for some time and believe that the company is significantly undervalued in the financial market place,' said Lonestar executive Jerome Simon. 'We look forward to continued success by the club and increased recognition of its inherent value.' The company has a market value of £8.8million. Millwall chairman Theo Paphitis said the investment would help the second division club 'on the playing field'. Millwall are 16th in the second division after playing six games and are also in the UEFA Cup first round. They drew 1-1 with Ferencvaros in Thursday's first leg. Millwall Paul
How good is Peters? I've heard mixed things about him, some saying he could be a new Christiano Ronaldo and others saying no way! He is a left winger right? Josh Simpson has been playing left back for us, and doing a good job of it, although a lot of us would like to see him play further up the field on the wing as he seems to be good at taking players on which is what we need at the moment. If Peters is good though I'm sure we'd have a strong left side with Josh staying at left back. Serioux seems like a good player as well, his first 2 games were his best, been giving the ball away a little bit too much since though but I'm sure he'll settle - do you think his best position is as a defensive midfielder or attacking? I think defensive myself as he is an excelent tackeler - worth noting that when he has been losing the ball lately, 99% of the time he seems to win it straight back! Those long throws of his are a amazing, I can see us getting a lot of goals from them this season. He was on the bench against Ferencvaros but seems the reason is that he has a shoulder injury. For Canada he`s been playing on the right. He has speed and can cross the ball really well. If you have speed, then you can make it at any level. He`s only 17, so I think he has a lot of time to improve.
Marc
I wouldn't be surprised to see Serioux drop off a bit. He's at end-of-season fitness since the A-League season goes from May-Sept (since the Lynx never make the playoffs) so I don't know how tired he'll be by December. He'll have played a full year's worth of soccer, plus international games as well.
marktci
In terms of stature and pace, he reminds me of Wayne Routledge of Crystal Palace (or could potentially be). A short, stocky, shifty guy who can put pressure on the defence.
Millwall Paul
We've got a guy called Paul Ifill on the right, I can't see anyone getting that place from him as Ifill is our best player - he's been injured since the first game of the season but came on as sub in the UEFA game. If Serioux ha splayed a full year I guess it's the same for Simpson so he might run out of gas soon as well?
Marc
I meant to say that by May, Serioux will have played May to May. But the sentiment is the same. Simpson, I don't know what will happen to him. The NCAA season is probably rather short, so he could have lots left in the tank, or start to sputter once he gets into the winter. Someone who knows the NCAA might know more.
SeanKeay
With Peters, i dont know if u can call him ronaldo... but he looks like he wants to run at defenders and take them on. He definatly will help your team right away. I doubt ifil will lose his spot, so im thinking peters would be thrown on the left wing. As for serioux, hes best at defencive midfield... though, i have always liked him on the wing.

The NCAA season is approximately 20-25 games (depending on the team) crammed into a time period from the end of August to the beginning of November (roughly two months). The tournament then follows and can be up to six games (I'm guessing here) if you make the final. Most NCAA teams play seven or eight spring games (friendlies for lack of a better term). Simpson played about a dozen games with the PDL's Boulder Rapids Reserves.
MikeD
Simpson needs to work on the mental side of his game before he's ready for English Championship-level football. Against Honduras, he was running around like a chicken with his head cut off until Yallop yanked him off the pitch. The good news is that he's only seventeen and that he can skin a defender one-on-one with the best of them. Once you combine some good coaching and quality match experience with him natural abilities, he'll be a heck of a player. However, he's still extremely raw compared to Simpson.
